On this map if you can just hold both fuels for a little bit as Ostheer you can have PziVs or Ostwinds out long before an SU-85.
I don't see what other sequence of moves I could have made here. I fight off the base pin, I cut him off, and it's not enough to make up for that 3 minutes of extra fuel. Only hope is to backtech to AT Guns, and hope they don't miss.

Hmm, yeah and what counts as a drop, which might affect your trust rating. I sometimes don't want to see the "You have been defeated, nub," screen so I type /leave, that might count as a drop. I like to avoid clicking on words like "surrender." In: Lobby |
Thread: 75% play as german, yet soviet units are OP?14 Aug 2013, 21:29 PM
No, micro is harder for Soviet players until mid-to-late game. Conscript spam requires careful attention to squad health, you must keep squads alive and gaining veterancy. Once Pgrens and LMGs roll out keeping squads alive gets more and more difficult. Clown cars have to stay out of faust range and keep on the move while you are also microing conscript squads. Snipers need to be babysat and constantly microed. Micro is not really an issue for Ostheer until they need to try flanking SU-85s with PZIvs. MG micro is fantastically easy with the invulnerable 4 man squads, other than that all you have to do until mid-late game is click "faust" and rush pgrens close to conscripts, and maybe launch some nades. Armored car micro is easier than clown car micro because you need to rush in and get out with clown cars, then quickly repair and get moving again if you take a faust. Scout cars just need to stay out of AT range. Flamenwurfer use only requires judging how many at nades you can take and keeping a pio near by for repairs. How is Soviet micro not harder? It does not surprise me that Soviet players continue to dominate the tournaments. I think their micro is just that much better, and they're able to exploit the powerful Soviet units (snipers, clown cars) to the full extent their micro allows. Most people are not as good with their micro, thus they prefer Ostheer, even if they wouldn't admit this is the reason. In: COH2 Balance |

Thread: Too many players left...14 Aug 2013, 18:27 PM
Honestly, the critics are right, the meta is boring. Are Soviets going to make KV-8s or just guards and SU-85s? Maybe an ISU...lol. Will Axis make a Pak43 or Elefant or bring out a tiger? Woo, lot of variety there. There were many more interesting combinations on the Axis side in COH1 due to the commanders and veterancy system...Blitz/T3, T1-T4, T2 Terror, T2 Defensive, vetted support + vet paks/vehicles (to stuka spam), vetted inf + super tanks, any of the other combinations + T4 units or just more infantry... TBH the US side was not nearly as interesting as US had fewer combinations, but the ones they had were very potent. Still even the 3 US commanders granted more variety to the meta than the current Soviet commanders do. Thus COH1 had a lot more depth than this one. I think some of us can see now how the Axis veterancy system in COH1, flawed as it is, gave Axis a delightful and deep array of strategic and tactical gameplay options. The complexity of the Wehrmacht gave COH1 its astonishing depth in my opinion. In: COH2 Gameplay |

I think most people just enjoy the more straightforward nature of the Ostheer units, and the fact that Ostheer is less micro-intensive. Playing well with Soviets means using lots of the sometimes hard to use gimicks built into the faction, you're not going to win games with just conscripts and AT guns the way you could as American in COH1. Thread: CoH2 Commander Tables13 Aug 2013, 01:06 AM
Very nice, Relic could have done a lot better job with this. I think it would have been clever if they'd tied features to abilities...So for instance, red scarf guys mean incendiary barrage, round glasses mean guards, and so on. That would have been clever and really helped you learn the commanders. In: Lobby |

Well, if I did insult you, I apologize and if you livestreamed it, I'm sure you have proof...I have no recollection of it however. But you are right - we are 2-1. So I would be happy to set up another little match so we can have a nice clean slate. In: Replays |
Thread: Who da Noob now?12 Aug 2013, 05:22 AM
I don't start stuff, but as Paradox was rather insulting in the Langreskaya tourney replay comments , here's me shutting him down in 11 minutes, whereas it took 45 mins for him to win and it was due to my mistakes. Can't have a game without drama...And a little upper intermediate rivalry is good for the soul! In: Replays |
Thread: Really nice Sov comeback and grinder match11 Aug 2013, 22:39 PM
Well-played from Fangish who manages to wrest map control back from me with some great T-34/AT gun usage that really set me on the back foot...Turns into quite the nailbiter as armor just keeps getting destroyed on all sides. Really good unit preservation from both players with all kinds of vet 3 stuff running around at the end. Panzerwerfer FTW... In: Replays |
