I've been trying to play 3v3 and 4v4 as USA and Sov a bit.
Really, not possible. As powerful as the US is in 1v1 and 2v2, in team games a team of all US is easily shutdown by sturmpios+Wehr MGs given the smallness and layout of all these maps (see my other post about making 4v4 competitive). If you have a skilled Soviet player on your team who is good with cars or snipers, there's some hope of getting a fuel point, but it seems those players are few and far between, and if they have good micro, they may prefer other modes where that micro will matter. I'd say L2P kids, but no, you can't flank MGs with good support, and there's a lot of strumpios on those fuel points...
Anyway, just opening a thread for suggestions. Wouldn't it be brilliant if Relic could have a different tier structure for 4v4s..The US really needs that howie in T1 for these modes.
I would just hate to see this wonderful influx of players drop off because the "fun" modes are not fun at all if you're playing one side. |
Well, 4v4 players mostly suck and aren't aggressive enough with Allies. That has always been the problem, even in vCOH. They just stop pushing and higher 4v4 resource income means Axis still gets stronger and stronger.
But also Sturmpios are OP in 3v3 and 4v4, because when you have 3-4 of them all going for the fuel points backed up by MGs and Kugels, by the time you force them back, the resource insanity of 4v4 basically insures you'll lose the game.

Yes, and it's really not difficult to get bars and zooks, or LMGs and zooks, or whatever combo you like.
They don't have any HARD choices.

I'd like to see the US one to remain as is, but be upgradable. Ie., 100 muni for that thing seems reasonable. Could be a garrisoanble M5 like the Russian one. An LT in an M5 could be, er, questionable though...
Then US has to pick between spamming bars/LMGs, or halftrack upgrade, right now I think US is floating in munitions, and part of the problem is they don't really have ANY hard munitions choices.

MGs need an AOE suppression buff. I'm seeing it too, you don't see it as much in 1v1, because they are better players, but they could do it too. Literally run the blob at the MG and only one or two units will get suppressed.
It wasn't as big a deal with conscripts, though still painful, because the conscripts do less DPS so the MG is more likely to survive a reposition/retreat. Rifle blob just kills it every time, only 3 rifles required, even head-on.
You need to basically have sturmpios standing next to your MGs all game, because Volks might as well not be there. Wehr still has LMG grens/pgrens/ACs...

Yeah, had AT gun get stuck in 1v1, that's game-changing when you give your opponent a free AT gun.
If infantry gets stuck in a corner though (like one of the corners in the graveyard on Semois, or the triangle near the east cut-off on Kholodny winter) you can usually vault out of it.

Dat unit preservation...I can sympathize, I lost a game tonight I shouldn't have lot because I just kept pushing (even destroyed two trucks), but took such mp drain I didn't have the stuff to deal with his late game crap.
Even with US after you have half or more of the map, it's much less risky to just stop and camp the VPs and force attacks by your opponent.

Oh...just admit someone thought it would be funny to put heavy crush on the trucks. We understand, you guys need amusement too
