Right click directly behind it and it won't do it, just like in vCOH.
I thought I saw somewhere some dev said this change was deliberate to reward more exacting micro. They left the reverse button in to troll basically...

The problem is a lot of better maxim spammers use con/maxim in tandem and basically harass around the map and push with that. They are always moving.
The thing I don't like about the IG is it's still too much RNG. You may or may not get a good shot on one that's stationary for a bit. It may or may not matter that you manually targeted or barraged the area of the Maxim.
I want the Maxims to be less powerful so I can use micro to get around them. Even with some nerfs con/maxim combos will still be tough especially if they tech Molotovs, which a lot don't, because hey, save that fuel for moar tanks, you don't need them...

Are you really that naive that you belive it's not determined by balance??? That's exciting, because I don't really think everyone plays only germans due to their cool uniforms? The problem is, that balance heavily favours the germans and the 80% germans usually are just a logical consequence to this. Who wants to play the weaker faction if you just want to have some fast fun?
I don't know if it's a balance issue, it's more of a skill issue. I've been playing some random team games again and the skill level of Allies players just seems really low. That's probably a simple consequence of the masses not playing Allies, therefore they're not very good at them and don't know the units or anything about microing those units. Or that Axis is easier to play (I think this is true in team games - take area, hold area, tech up.)Furthermore, the same old truth that an Allied team still requires much more coordination than an Axis teams still holds true with WFA.
Usually if I hit a coordinated Allied team, they walk all over random Axis, but unfortunately, not as often as I'd like.

If you're not fast enough for the blobs, you're not fast enough for COH2 anymore.
I think there are a lot of good players who are getting focus fired down by blobs and wondering wtf just happened. They aren't used to the more intense multitasking, or can't get fast enough.

I love the Jackson. In my opinion it is the best tank destroyer and borderline over powered. There should be units like the Jackson that require extra micro, if everything was easy to micro the game would get dull quickly and there'd be less room for good players to distinguish themselves. Basically... just learn to use the Jackson properly and you'll realize how strong USF late game is. Especially when combined with HE Shermans and M1919s
I would agree if the Axis factions had similar high-skill/high-risk units they had to use for AT, but they don't.
Nothing is easier than trolling a puma around or a Panther.

It's a pretty interesting topic to try and look at the skillsets required to play each faction in each phase of the game and determine what playstyles and factions are actually more difficult. Are they more rewarding as well?
I assume this is what you mean by "Micro Fairness"?
Yes. I think Ciez said in another thread it's a high-skill high reward unit, like the Kugel or snipers. However, we already have the veterancy system to reward high skill and good unit preservation. I think the Jackson should be more durable and do less damage to make it easier to use. Unlike early game manpower only units, losing one is just too punishing for the US because of their lack of reliable AT and the high fuel cost. OKW, on the other hand, can survive the loss of a Panther because of their shreks and pupchens. Sometimes Wehrmakt can even survive the loss of a Tiger.

I think the biggest issue right now is the really small number of people willing to play allies, even in 2v2. The US late game is too weak, and apparently people don't like Soviet much anymore either.
The Jackson, in my opinion, is just too hard to use. To successfully use a Jackson, you need to be essentially only microing this unit, as you need to use hold fire, target something, get in range, then scoot out of range while avoiding any other threats, and then decide whether to try to advance or not. It's so flimsy that anything coming out of the FOW on a flank is probably going to kill it, and on many maps it's extremely difficult to place it somewhere safely. This while microing a PzIV or Tiger is the height of simplicity and they are fairly easy to multitask with since even if you don't have those units on screen, you can probably get them out of a dangerous situation without losing them. The Jackson, on the other hand, is just so fragile that there's a high risk of losing it if you don't have it on screen at all times.
Not to mention the unit's target priorities are really screwed up. If it does happen to misfire or fire at infantry, you're in trouble, as the opponent will scoot out of range or prepare a flank or rush.
The thing really needs more health and less damage. Of course no one's playing much Allies - it's just too much of a challenge to use these vehicles, and losing one essentially means game over given their fuel cost. Add to that the fact that US AT guns are too slow and lack maneuverability for even basic backstopping of Jacksons and you have a really, really pathetic late game.
There's "let's take up the challenge of playing the late game underdog" and then there's an unplayable late game slippery slope, and in my opinion, the US has just too much of a slippery slope to make playing the faction at all enjoyable. Comebacks are not possible.

I'd love to understand how these bugs get re-created when they had been previously fixed.
And what's with MGs setting up in the wrong direction? That's just as game-breaking.

I like. I'd try to work on your audio though, it sounds like the mike was quite distant from your face but the gain was up very high, as it was picking up a lot of room ambience. So I had to really crank the sound to hear you.
I do enjoy this kind of analysis, this is what I tried to do when I did my short-lived cast. Exactly why is that unit there, what are they thinking, and really detailed micro analysis, which I am still learning!
