Allowing units that were never meant to receive weapon upgrades to purchase weapon upgrades because they are partnered with a USF player is simply unbalancing. The soviet army is designed to play a specific way. Their tech, units, and commanders take into account (or at least should) the lack of upgradable infantry. This is how they are balanced. When you introduce weapon upgrades into the mix the entire balance of the faction gets thrown out of order. Having access to bazookas alone would completely change soviet early game by giving them reasonably good infantry based AT. Even if it could be balanced somehow it would require balancing for two different scenarios; those in which soviets have access to weapon upgrades and those times they don't. I agree that team games, particularly 3v3 and up, need better balance but conscripts with bars or bazookas is not the way to fix it.

Soviets are in a terrible state now. Whatever semi fun strategies that we had were taken away and now we are left with nothing but boring cheese.
Pretty done with this game for now. Conscripts in the right buildings can fight grens and pioniere well. |
2day i was playing a 4v4 as OKW. i had to leave because i had a study group member call me. i came back 4minutes later, and we were still winning.
We can see why it's not easy to win as Allies. You and your friends are gonna have to wait for Relic to start balance 3v3 and 4v4 in a different manner to 1v1 if you want to enjoy those large matches as USF/Soviet. |
A medal to the man who drew this. So true. |
I don't think they would serve much purpose in the game. Their role would overlap with shock troops except they're not as great as shocks. i.e Poor man's shock troops

There is no 'strongest faction' in 2v2 imo.
It's just not balanced. Is the balance that bad in 2v2? |
I'm having difficulties with the soviets. But I suck, and don't do meta strats (because I don't wanna and I suck, not specifically in that order) You should be proud because you don't do meta strats. Being unique is good. |
Here's my BO.
Gren Gren MG42 MG42 Mortar BP1 T2 Pak Pgren
The idea is that for the first engagement you should put both grens together to form a full squad of 8 men. You will sacrifice map control for this but if he's not smart enough he will lose some manpower and some map control as well. The double MG42 is there to support the grenadiere and defend a place. One for defence, the other following your grenadiere. The mortar will kill the Maxim gunners pretty well. If he gets a mortar, you kill it then take it for yourself to form a mini mortar battery. You can kill Maxims even easier. Pak is just for reassurance just in case he goes down to T1 instead for sniper. The Pgrens only serve to make it worse for the Maxim. Grens draw fire, Pgrens flank and destroy. |
You should always get a pak or 2 to help support your tiger/panther. You can't really do much if they circle around you without support. Like Sarantini said, lure them to the grenadier for panzerfaust. You should be focusing on escape by then. Tell your paks and tiger to fire on one particular tank so that you reduce the number of MG and cannon firing. |
I'm still playing the game so voted no.
I just can't seem to let go of the game even if it's poorly optimised, boring meta, blobbing is not punished enough and the game revolves around call-ins. |
