no replays

for some reason lately coh 2 stopped recording last played game, I checked permissions and they seemed fine, then I reinstalled the game to a different drive after deleted all remnants of the game on my system, still cant save a replay or see last played game, either in the playback folder or from within the replays section of the game.. anyone got any ideas why the game would lose the ability to save replays? ... if i attempt to save a replay it says unknown error.
