is it possible to use paratrooper as mainline infantry

am i going to be punish for saving manpower or build less riflemen till i get paratrooper ?

i've been wonder so long if i should call in paratroop or use those mid game manpower for teching mayor because by then i should have had 3 riflemen and either Lt. or Captain that mean 4 mainline infantry already

This is how I use Para's.

You do need to use something to keep you in the early-mid game.

Thing is that riflemen are really, really good, I like Paratroopers (and Pathfinders myself) but you should them as support to your Riflemen, you always want to have 2-4 Rifle squads on the field.
Decide if you want a Obersoldaten like squad with Surpression on demand or a deep flanker that excels at cutting off retreat paths.

Long answer: there's no point because rifles are better in every conceivable way.
