One thing I've learned from playing the AI is that to pick up every piece of broken or abandoned equipment on the battlefield--both your own and red army. Obviously, spawn engineers to do this or grenadiers/pg's that you can quickly reinforce. Pretty soon you end up with a lot of equipment. I've only see the AI pick up abandoned equipment once.

the problem is that setup teams are less manipulable than normal infantry and they still count up your population. leaving you with a less variable army. i only pick them when i really need them. but having an early at you don't, or picking an mg when you don't have one and the infantry is coming is good. but don't pick them all you don't want to end up with an unbalanced army.

My general rule is - always pick up ATGs if they're lying around. Only get mortars and HMGs if you need them.
Had fun doing this earlier
