Where do I find tournaments if there are any, and how are they played with factions and so on, Best of 3 Swich sides and VP leader chooses last game?

Tournaments are found in this subforum, although we don't have any running at the moment.
The usual format is indeed every player playing each side once with the VP leader choosing faction in game 3 (in a best-of-3, which is used in a traditional single elimination CoH tournament).
As for 2v2 faction choice, last beta tournament allowed all factions on each side, so you could have 2x soviets vs. soviet+wehr. This might be changed in future events though.

Haha. yeah that's a problem for competetive play atm.

You do the same thing almost every decent RTS does: force someone to play a race they don't like as much. Oh wait, most decent RTS games don't do that.
