Do we know more about them than the old clues in the code, and the the roadmap includes an in game store?

answer will be no for a few reasons. It would kill all balance changes since vcoh2 release, make meta stale in all modes besides 4v4 maybe and would kill relic's income from selling commanders on steam.
COH online used custom commanders which made everyone use the same abilities making the meta stale

I'm not analysing why relic what's to include them or what impact they will have.
The game files seems to indicate that they will be a general thing at some point in time. Therefore it would be nice to know how and when.

Yes Relic may of laid early code but this game will NEVER have custom commanders.
