This is what happen if I use rifle nade in 90 degrees from where the squad is facing:

Ok good to know how this keeps happening. As far as I can tell grenades are still super buggy for all factions. Sometimes they don't throw, sometimes I get charged and they don't throw, sometimes they throw late, sometimes they bug out on animation, sometimes they just ignore the order.

It's not a bug, it's feature which allows rifle nades to becamoe even more deadly since you cannot notice animation
