I read it's, let's say, hundreds counter - so next star is shown after lvl 100 is reached ...
But today I got a star on switch form 89 to the 90 ...
So ??

The star in your profile will change every 5 levels I think, starting bronze and getting more ornate
Once you max out 100 you will start again from 0 and usually level quite fast, you will also show a prestige star at that point
