Encirclement doc adds some zesty historical flavor to the 1941 German missions, but it also introduces some bugs (at least I think). In the mission "Encirclement at Smolensk," there are soviet artillery guns in the center of the map that can't be targeted by off maps - so you have to deal with them the whole time. With encirclement doctrine you can just spawn stormtroopers in the houses and mow down the crews, and the AI doesn't react to this at all, so one squad can safely mow down all three guns.
Also, even though it's 1941, you can still upgrade them with Pshrecks and StG44s.
