steam also has an offline mode. unless the game explicitly needs/wants a connection, you'll be able to start the game.

What about COH2? Would it work the same as COH1?I won't have the CD this time XD
If COH2 comes on CD it will probably be the same stuff as Dawn of War 2: Retribution. Bought collectors, got a nice box with artwork and a CD, then when I put the CD in it just authenticated taht my steam profile had the game and started downloading it. So now I never need it again and it's sitting in its (beautiful) box just taking up space. :/
No spreading out, no fancy stuff, just smash through. Let's see how those degenerate sophisticates handle a healthy dose of pure unreasoning violence.
