If you watch gr at a big resolution, you can see a screenshot of CoH covering the edges. Maybe do the same here instead of the plain grey?

while it may be low priority. i think a cool idea for the future would be to let the user select from either his own (uploaded) background or a few pre-made backgrounds.
Failure is always an option.
