How to set up the art/UI folders and SDK?

So I've gotten to the point with my mod that I want to set up my art folder. I've tried setting it up a few times in the past, but I keep running into errors because I keep doing it wrong, but I don't want to put if off anymore at this point. That said, are there any resources/tutorials about how to have the folders set up and how to get SDK working properly?
