92nd Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon and 59th Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment who are part of 20th Panzer-Division were ordered to defend that point no matter of cost to cover retreat other german divisions on sides. They entrenched in on defensive positions and waited for orders from commands from Oberkommando des Heeres but then, famous bloody 57th Motor Guard Rifle Division came out to capture that strategic point. The Stavka is determined to capture that point to quickly break through german lines and cut off their supply line to close the sizeable pocket on frontline.
Defensive doctrine? I think it isn't that bad
