I played kind of bad, lost both snipers later but initially they served their purpose - they allowed me to stop the maxim spam initially and bought me time into the later stage of the game.
Note that I did preemptively build snipers because I saw maxim bulletins and a lack of early presence, had he went a scout car rush I would have been royally fucked most likely.
I still find the unit extremely cost effective and IMHO should recieve a damage and/or crew size nerf.
