Panther is for pushing off pesky allied flanking vehicles, chasing heavily wounded tanks that got hit by paks/shreks etc, cheeky dives to kill katushkas.
It performs all these types of duties excellently, while being very user friendly and having great atributes and abilities for getting it out of trouble and evacuating to safety.
What its not supposed to do is sit in a fire fight with units designed to kill armour, like TDs.

Where people fall down with the Panther is they dont understand its design intention within the Ost faction. Its not meant to be your main punch in any shape or form, so dont directly compare it to opposing units. Ost has really strong units and abilities when it comes to killing armour, what they dont have bags and bags of, is manouvability! This is what your paying for with the Panther, an extremely mobile unit in a fairly slow faction. It has enough armour to get it into, and out of killing range to finish off enemy units. Its not intended just to slug it out with heavies or tank destroyers. These reasons are why it has slowish rate of fire. This is why Ost also has had slower repairs, your being punished by taking too much damage with your big tanks, you should try to avoid taking damage as much as possible. Where as allies tactics is to pressure with your armour, soaking up some damage, then pull back and quickly repair. In: COH2 Balance |

Best course of action currently is do not reply in any form to toxic chat. Its much less ammusing and soon gets boring for trolls when they are talking to themselves In: COH2 Gameplay |

AOE distance is size of blast, damage is how much damage it does. scatter angle is at what angle it scatters from the barrel. the Three values is for near, mid and far range. Recived accuracy, you can think of it like armour, take that much less damage. Target size, makes it harder to hit the model, i.e. more misses if smaller. Command P4, buffs slightly less. Yeah I was going to say thats likely due to Russia building insane amounts of weapons, which have floated around many parts of the world quite freely, as opposed to German weapons, a western nation, much more highly regulated and generally updated with more modern versions. In: COH2 Shoutcasts |

What Im trying to get at, is that machine guns have good suppresion in part because of their inaccuracy, this is evident by the beaten zone, which is a desirable trait for a fire support weapon. Some weapons would have smaller beaten zones, and provide less suppression over a wider area. I would call that a more accurate weapon. A HMG which is designed to have a larger beaten zone, I would call less accurate by design. In: COH2 Shoutcasts |

Of course you can, HMGs are mostly designed to be 'inaccurate', in that they saturate a decent sized area with rounds, rather than a small patch. This is how you suppress a large area, quickly and easily. Much of the time this is being done at very large ranges, you mostly cant even see the enemy, there is no 'target' to direct accurate fire towards. Your target will be something like a corner of some woods, or an area of a hill, or even some dead ground you cannot see. A HMG which randomly places rounds all over that area and quickly, is going to keep the heads down of any enemy much more than a weapon placing rounds in a more predictable pattern.. thats why it can be true, and relevant, to say a weapon is too accurate. Exactly, I dont know what Danes words were, but if hes saying Bren was too accurate for section level suppresion tool, hes probably right. Its not nessecarily a wrong comment, maybe just not in context. In: COH2 Shoutcasts |
Thread: Propagandacast small arms fake news. 11 Jul 2019, 10:27 AM
There is a lot of context missing there, it is true that a Bren was NOT going to supress a group of infantry at range anywhere near as well as a propper HMG. Any true HMG does two things, puts down a LOT of rounds, and does so with a "beating patern", which causes suppression over a decently large area. With more accurate weapons like a Bren, you could suppress a small area sure, but maybe not a larger area covering 10-20 infantry or more. This was pretty much same problem with the more recently used British LSW (Light support weapon - just a long barreled SA80), it was deployed at section level with the role of fire support for flanking manouvers, however again just being a longer barreled version of the standard assault rifle, it only really added extra accuracy, no increase in rate of fire or spread of bullets. So it worked closer to a sniper type weapon, giving more concentrated fire than an actual MG, which was supposed to be its intended role. This is LSW: Which has been replaced by Minimi, which address the issues above: I dont know what Dane was saying about Bren accuracy, but I dont doubt that it wouldnt perform suppression dutys as well as a propper MG due to being too accurate. That doesnt mean it wasnt a good gun, or well liked. In: COH2 Shoutcasts |

Your not supposed to spam panthers, it's not intended to work (unless they are spamming mediums, which is rare). It's nearly always going to fall flat against tank destroyers. Not least because your wasting all your fuel on something which won't help Vs superior allied infantry. In: COH2 Gameplay |
