imo the reason why people complain about the katyusha is because they are getting hit by it more often than getting hit by the pwerfer. because you know, they play much more axis than allies. so it is actually based on observation bias, they think katyusha is actually decent when most allied players would salivate at having a rocket arty equivalent to stuka/pwerfer. it is quite insane that you can complain about such a perfect piece of artillery. it does its job when it hits, they wipes squads consistently and its the perfect tool to destroy infantry in cap points. compared to that katyusha is a wild card. its great when it hits, just a light show when it spreads and doesnt absolutely nothing, sometimes only a single kill against a 3 gren squads blob. on top of that, the delayed salvo means with quick enough reactions, you can retreat after the 1st salvo hits and watch the other 3 salvo miss their target entirely. try that with pwerfer and stuka, you'd see your squad getting wiped far more consistently, retreat is only an option when you *hear* the salvo coming, when the salvo hits, its often much too late. why are people making falls a nightmare to balance? reduce FOTM dps and long range DPS. thats all. In: COH2 Balance |

trying running shocks into PPSH effective range vs volks/falls focus fire, same with rangers with thompsons. then observe when shocks/rangers melt. guards are generalists but master of none, they do not output enough dps to stop an entire okw onslaught alone. now try focus fire on guards at max range while guards get conscripts/penal supporting fire lol. paras are the only real contender for falls. again, try focus firing. the whole point is, supporting units that OKW can bring to the field. because almost every infantry can output so much ranged DPS with vet and upgrades. and when falls enter the fray, its overkill. its not about falls in a vacuum. dial it back and see okw as a whole, does the army truly need a high DPS AI unit in the 1st place? volks already cover that role and get more effective with vet, obers do that too without doctrines and okw never had problems dealing with allied infantry in the 1st place. compare that to soviets/USF, conscripts, while useful, are just not able to match pound for pound against volks/sturm. penals are great but volks are still able to match them in equal numbers and at range. not to mention penals are more expensive. rifles are the same, volks do well enough against them and have enough tools to stop a rifle push through smart placement and better cover. rifles cant charge them because STG upgrades, whoever breaks cover 1st generally loses. so allies generally need elite infantry to supplement their base infantry to match OKW early game. but when falls come into play, allied infantry cannot hope to match the sheer amount of DPS going their way. HMG helps but its a double edged sword. the DPS that falls+volks can put out pretty much able to melt HMG while engaging head on as well as most allied HMG do not pin fast enough to negate incoming DPS. which brings us to where we are now. it only gets worse once PZ4 rolls in, or god forbid, walking stukas that wipes the crap out of infantry. TLR: okw can field so much anti infantry DPS via volks/falls so early that allied units arent durable enough to weather it and melt. In: COH2 Balance |

i think we should start with a close range buff to match grens. rather than reworking so many things. the reason is simple. well microed tommies should beat assault grens when outnumbering them with focused fire. that the only problem with tommies right now and would fix most CQB situation that tommies come under early game and allow some sort of territory contest. slight rework on how cover bonuses work, small but imo, significant changes remove cover bonuses from base sections, buff them to be equal to grens, brits pay 40 more mp for that 0.9 natural RA, so they dont get completely asswiped by charging pioneers and sturmpioneers out of cover charging them from max range. these guys should be at least able to handle themselves at short ranges similar to other rifle infantry. rename bolster squads to veteran sergeants/whatever. this is where the +1 squad member comes in with cover bonuses inclusive. then buff/nerf cover bonuses as accordingly to smooth out mid/late game powerspikes from falls, STGvolks, LMG grens. wasnt a serious idea from the get go. it is exactly this 6man squad theme that brings so much crap to soviet teams. its either they are too good or too bad. just make it so at 4man with better stats to compensate and i swear to god, people will wish they had the 6man tanky maxims than a good proper mg42 equal that pins grenadiers, JLIs, obers in 1 or 2 bursts from range. Give me 4 man maxim squads with buffs to compensate. More dmg and suppression. Im sure the crying will be much much more. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: How to fix UKF: Unit overview16 Sep 2018, 03:58 AM
Imo its not infantry sections are inherrently bad. Its just that in late game, both axis factions has access to non doc rocket artillery to wipe the occasional squad and inflict heavy manpower bleed, health damagr that makes allied infantry pale in commparison. Wounded and/or unvetted squads do not have the staying power against vetted healthy axis infantry, thus opening up support teams and tanks for an axis infantry push with AT gun wall. In a straight up firefight. I would say both sides have roughly equal chance of defeating each other. But when rocket arty comes into play, barring soviet who can have their own response, usf and ukf infantry just have to take the plummeling like champs and hopefully the support ukf and usf vehicles are up to the task.
