What? Volksgrenadiers also have grenades, and also have doctrinal 10 muni assault grenades... and can actually do good damage at vet 4 vet 5, plus they aren't meant to be anti infantry squads. Cons might be able to throw at grenades, but volks have the amazing shreck which with the vet bonuses the volks have makes it super accurate and makes them really durable. In my eyes buffing volks is a mistake, because we don't need more volks spam. Anyways, we will see. In: COH2 Balance

Just because a few people instead of getting 1 conscript in the early game , gets 1 penal and then spams gaurds doesn't matter. They don't rely on penals, they rely on gaurds and/or snipers,possibly 120mm. Penals pretty much lose to sturmpios at all ranges, even worse than conscripts, who atleast have a slight long range advantage over sturmpios. Compare penals to rifles, rifles are comparable at close range, but completely outclass penals mid and long range. Plus rifles have at nades, grenades and smoke grenades, and can be upgraded with m1919 or BAR. Also rifles can be built instantly, while penals require you to put down T1. And rifles cost 10 mp more than penals. Sadly this is a problem with the design of the soviet faction, and thank god relic is going to implement modding, then we can make our own balance patches. Nah, i don't even spam snipers myself, but from observation this is the only strategy that works consistently. I go conscripts, M3s and then get t-34/76s. I substitute gaurds with m-42 mini anti tank guns. It's not a very good strategy, but it's alot more fun that spamming snipers and gaurds. Cons, penals are so bad that they just bleed manpower to the point its not even worth having them vs OKW M3s get easily countered by 6 minute pumas maxims are somewhat competitive strat and gives you good map control in the early game, but later on in the game they simply get wiped by OKW infantry support guns and elite infantry againts decent players. Shocks are decent, but gaurds are better in every way on most maps. Gaurds are pretty much core infantry for the soviets- great faction design when your core infantry is doctrinal. soviet T4 is completely horrible, T3 is decent for t-34/76s , but completely overshadowed by t-34/85s which are cheaper than t-34/76s. ISU-152 works too on some 1v1 maps. In: COH2 Balance

I would just simply do this. Make both snipers 80 hp, 1.0 armor stats, same rate of fire. Soviet sniper is more fragile due to higher axis DPS, but also has more killing power due to lower axis squadsizes. Axis sniper is more durable, but due to higher squad sizes, less killing power. Remove sprint, then remove incendiary rounds from ostheer? Making them super expensive and big reinforce cost would make the 2 man team redundant. I'd prefer if snipers were simply both 80 health, and 1 man teams, basically indentical to each other. Soviet sniper has mobility with sprint, german sniper has killing power with incendiary. Thread: My thoughts & ideas on Conscripts29 Aug 2014, 19:17 PM anyways, i think i have to agree with cannonade on this. Conscripts are fine, they are a bit like volks from coh 1. Difference between volks and cons, is that volks were backed up by good non doctrinal inf (KCH and grens). Penals also don't scale well at all. Thats what really needs fixing. Like i said, i'd like penals renamed to strelky, but that's just a flavor issue, not relaly anything major. My personal preference would be something like this - strelky 300 mp - Strelky - Strelky are well trained and decently equipped infantry for the soviets. The backbone and bulk of the soviet army, effective againts infantry at long range. 6 man team with mosins (gaurd mosin stats) gaurd grenade DP upgrade for 50 munitions. weakness here - no AT. So spamming them is not a good idea. Of course, the name change , like i said, is not really needed. In: COH2 Balance
