Once T1/T2 is up, T2/T1 is cheaper for let's say 40-50%, so if you need AT you just tech up. You can go shocks for example. You can go for any other doctrine that has no guards. It makes playing as and vs soviets much more interesting. The problem here is not ballance, its that it needs a change in meta commanders. Relic probably won't allow this. Sure, then what kind of penals? Live? WBP 1.0? WBP 1.0 with late game upgrade? Which type of penals listed above you have in mind when you are proposing such change? No, becasue if T2 would be cheaper (once T1 built) you just tech for ZiS so no need for AT in T1. So in short: You don't want add M-42 becasue it's useless (still less useless than AT Penals) and for months I've been proving in replays that's it's not useless (just some vet ability which improves penetration/damage). And you don't want M-42 becasue of tournament. For me it sounds very weak. M-42 offers reasonable solution for light AT, which is in line with combined arms, stays useful even in later stages without weird options to get 3rd PTRS after T4, it is against mass Penals blob. After this patch, I'm afraid I will have to give up whole CoH2 which the only game I'm playing Don't get me wrong, good job with bug fixes but as for the balance, there are many weird decision made by few people "in the name of community". I am pretty sure you will be able to win the first few engagements, but you will start losing 3 minutes into the game. Yes, you are probably going to see a ton of Penal-only blobs when the patch goes live. However if we've done our job correctly, Penal-only blobs will be unviable (or at least less viable than Penal & Guards blobs). Thus, you are not going to see much of them after the novelty factor wears off. Point is, it's irrelevant if Penals lob is viable. The game encourages you for this which is bad design. Anything AT specialized is better than Penals PTRS. Leave PTRS alone (lol at 3rd PTRS after T4), bring Donnie's AT squad or M-42 and we will see what will happen. You are too much obsessed about PTRS for Penals imo, like you don't wanna try anything else, becasue "PTRS Penals". Dead end. In: COH2 Gameplay
