I know I'm not a moderator here, but I think if you're looking to start a discussion it might help to both specify which M8 you're talking about or to invite people to respond to a question, thought, or opinion you state about the unit.
If you're looking for people to chat with about the game, maybe going to Discord would be a better format for a very informal discussion.
Thanks!

I'm going to lock this thread and point anyone interested in the topic over to the other thread: https://www.coh2.org/topic/109989/why-stuart-is-sh-t-compared-to-t70 |
Title says it all; I'm wondering what maps people like the most, past or present. Are or were they perfect? What would you want changed to have made the map go from good to great?
Thanks in advance! |
Nice!
I think there is something about grogginess when waking up, too.
I recall, with great fondness, a situation where Herr Sturmpanther and I were to battle the next day. He was up late in the night and I offered some great advice.
In order to beat that morning grogginess, I suggested that he have a few beers throughout the night (to take the edge off as he was nervous before the game) and to practice throughout the night and morning. I think I suggested some coffee, too, but I don't exactly recall.
Fortunately, he took my advice and was able to beat me quite soundly! |
A lot of people have made good points here so I just want to speak in more general terms.
Rear Echelons are the most flexible combat engineer squad in the game but many of their specific roles require a lot of micro to work effectively. Plus, they're squishier than mainline squads due to inferior vet bonuses.
While Wehr pioneers can have about two combat roles (close-quarters, anti-building), REs have five (anti-tank, cover denial w/ grenades, fire support/suppression with BARs or M1919 LMG, support weapon denial w/ smoke grenades, and anti-building).
A few of them are micro-intensive (smoke, volley fire suppression, rifle grenade placement/bug of them walking forward to the squad you right-click on).
They're much easier to use, especially later in the game and as you add players, with just bazookas; your muni is better put into mainline squads with M1919s or BARs sooner into the game, too.
Usually, if I can put BARs on my RE squads, I've already won the game. |
With the type of campaign they're testing out I think it's possible. Italy might be better suited for a co-op campaign but I think a slightly earlier war North African campaign map could work well too! There was a lot of see-sawing before Operation Torch fundamentally shifted the balance.
I'd love to see multiplayer campaign. It's been in the Total War series since Empire (2009). I don't see a reason why it can't be in coh3 in 2022. |
so this is how "Angry Bears" was founded? Reaction so scary Fins?
Yes, exactly, except the Finnish man is Relic with a patch that was very heavily biased for the axis |
Exciting! |
My advice would be to ask some friends that still play and look for recent casts. I cant remember the last update but generally speaking anything within six months is good (and I guess it will continue indefinitely as no more coh2 balance updates. sad).
1s are probably the easiest to find but you can still find vods (or replays here) of 2s, 3s, and 4s.
But also, depending on how much effort you want to put into it, you can go through the patch notes. You don't really need to see the specific data because usually there are short explanations/intentions of what the changes are for. |
