Sheesh... How many matches have you played? It better be way more than anyone else given how personally you seem to take any criticism of the game
Quite a bit since 1.4 dropped actually for someone who has about 2 hours of play a day and other games besides coh, thanks for concern.
Being a parent sucks, stick to being basement dweller at parents house if you want to have games played in 4 digits. |
Shitty threads from salty people who never stop complaining, but refuse to find something they would like ln life as if living for misery is their whole personality usually. |
Problem is RTS tend to push for 1v1 e-sport gigachad tourney gaming while 95% of the playerbase want to play SP and 3v3,4v4, comp stomps.
SC2 was pushing esport try hards, yet it had extremely large casual playerbase.
But it had game modes and creative tools to support that.
SC2 coop commanders was fun af for me, and I'm afraid we'll never see such game mode ever again, tho HW3 will make an attempt. |
Coh always stood out with its vivid battledield atmosphere.
it's the only game i know where models behave realistically. Reloading, seeking cover, ducking, proning, giving handsigns etc.
how come there hasn't been a single game who copied that?
it's the first thing i'm thinking about a modern RTS...
EZ
Despite what many people would have you believe to the contrary, there was actual effort put into CoH.
The closest alternative is MoW and its derivatives and they just crap out shovelware asset swap every year or two for last 16 years on the exact same 16 yo old engine. |
Well, there is only so many people you can fire before you're completely crippled.
Post release obviously not as much graphical asset and story writing staff is needed as in production, but other positions seem needed. |
Based on what is publicly known and with the success of AoE4, I think that in future Relic will probably be picking up a lot of outsourced work from publishers, rather than them working on their own IPs in the future.
However, there is a strong chance the company gets "restructured" (lay offs, IPs sold, internal operations outsourced etc.) and then get sold on again.
Didn't they had layoffs last summer already?
Anyway, games usually end up bad, because of bad leadership decisions and pushing too early releases to satisfy whoever but players.
We've got a proverb here, which roughly translates to "Fish rots from the head first", meaning people responsible for making decisions are the ones who should be changed first. |
And still it worked
What exactly do you mean by "worked"?
Casuals new Zeal existed and did something.
You had to go ask modders or look at another sites to find out what it actually did and how it functioned, nowhere it explained or hinted at it working on model basis, not squad basis and being in effect within a single squad.
It was stupid, it did not worked, it was extremely unclear and you had to go to external sources to understand what it did.
And that stupidity of lack of any kind of indicators and descriptions continues through DoW2 and CoH2.
Nothing was clear, you wrestled with UI that refused to show you what you wanted to know and you think "it still worked"? |
but the coh1 system worked perfectly. and that was 18 years ago.
why did they change it?
Pretty sure COH1 had no indicator for 57 buffs PE units had through upgrades and vet. |
The battlefield-UI or how you wanna call it in CoH3 is one of the worst I have ever seen, a bunch of symbols floating above units, making the screen cluttered and 0 explanation as to what these buffs do
Ah, that, yeah, I can see how that can be a problem, buffs could easily be moved elsewhere.
Debuffs however I'm not so sure.
You do need indicator that these are active, but yeah, it could be done much better, agreed here.
As DAK main I see these so often, I just phase them out of my sight. |
At the moment I don't see the need of reducing the resource outcome at least in 2vs2, I don't have the feeling that late game units are arriving that early and early/mid game LVs and units have their role and impact.
I'm not sure that would help 3vs3 or 4vs4, the problem isn't the resource but the concentration, we've seen that in those modes the side with the highest winrate is usually the one with the best indirect fire units. It has little to do with ressources.
There isn't such late game unit that win the game on their own like in coh2, or at least not until now that they buffed the Grant... which they could undo next patch.
Because it is not a problem in 2s.
Its specifically issue of 3s and 4s, where stalemate happens early and points do not change ownership, on top of that you always have caches.
In 1s and 2s a lot of map is often contested and changing hands, leading to armor arriving at its intended time, you won't exactly find many 5 min Stuarts in 2s and 1s. |
