Non-doc SPART instead of rocket artillery would help differentiate them. But it would also make them not so "campy" since it's not just a stationary ground thing. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: USF .50 Cal - fragile!14 Apr 2015, 11:57 AM The crew has a received accuracy penalty, meaning enemy units that aim at it are more accurate than usual. Hence more of the bullets hit, and it goes down faster. Crewed weapons in general have this, however Soviet squads have 2 extra men that make them more survivable. Axis units generally receive less infantry firepower coming their way, so don't do as badly except in specific cases like the PTRS spam or M1919 spam from US forces. In: COH2 Gameplay

Soooo long German heavy rush! 90mm with HVAP has comparable armor penetration to 17 pounder with APDS, while being more accurate at long ranges and more destructive after penetration. I would probably make the case that the 90mm was the heaviest AT gun, but they were both good. Relic does whatever it pleases with this stuff tho, so the 17 pounder will probably have 2 million penetration for some reason In: COH2 Gameplay

Also, wouldnt the firefly be no tougher than USF's shermans? It sure wouldnt be any panther, dont know where that comparison comes from... The Sherman is considerably tougher than the M10/M36, but less tough and armoured than the Panther. If it was a Sherman body with a long range gun, in game terms it would act similarly to the Panther, able to outrange normal tanks and tough enough to chase them down (although not as effectively in this second capacity). Or you could compare it to the M36 and say "it's just like an M36, but with less damage and more health!" Someone else proposed the Archer tank destroyer, which would be fine too I guess, but it's just like the SU85 / Jagdpanzer IV. Realistically there's nothing they could use that wouldn't be very similar to an existing tank destroyer in the game. I think the Achilles would be a good choice personally, it was extremely numerous and it hasn't been featured in CoH games before. Brit arsenal isn't as boring and monotonous as USF one. The 17 pounder Churchill variant never left prototype stage and never saw combat. The Challenger tank would be more probable, but that isn't really THAT much more armored than a Firefly to begin with, just a Cromwell chassis. In: COH2 Gameplay

It would be too much like USF and the jackson. They're going to wind up with some similar units no matter what they pick. If they have a turreted TD that has more armor/health, it will be creeping in on Panther territory (e.g. the Firefly) while if it's a glass cannon it will either be like the M36 or the M10 in several ways. It's not a major problem if one or two units are similar to other extant units. As long as the faction overall feels distinct. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: British Faction, what do you want to see?10 Apr 2015, 06:06 AM The stock TD should be the 17 pounder achilles. It has M10 Wolverine HP/Armor, but with a better/longer range gun. The Sherman Firefly will be doctrinal; it has an identical gun, but armour/HP to match a regular USF Sherman. The design of the faction should be a strong core of British units (maybe one or two LL things since they did use a shitload in the war) with the doctrines providing either foriegn units, or foreign equipment. So there coulud be a Canadian doctrine that provides some other commonwealth stuff, then there might be a doctrine that gives you a regular Sherman medium tank to skip a tier if you still want mediums. Stuff like that. Other units I'd like to see, whether stock or doctrinal: - Sexton Self Propelled Artillery (25 pounder) - Valentine Tank - Churchill Tank - Cromwell Tank Units that might be appropriate but might be too similar/overlapping: - Challenger tank - 95mm Centaur variant (SpART; possibly Brumbar-like) In: COH2 Gameplay
