I don't enter tourneys because I'm not very good. I get stomped in random automatches more than enough for my tastes.

When you and your partner are working 9-5 and have other hobbies too it's kind of hard to get great at the game.

Does Relic release game statistics? I'd be interested to see what the WLR looks like for the factions in each mode right now.

Guys the Germans lost WW2 in 1940 when they failed to knock Britain out of the war. Not that they could have by force (LOL SEELOWE), but when the Brits refused to do a negotiated peace then and there it was GG. The looming threat of a British Empire backed up by US industry and the Soviets gathering strength over time forced their hand - Barbarossa was the next step. But the same lack of resources which made them turn east in an effort to secure them also doomed their war to failure. In 1941 the Axis outnumbered the Soviets. The Red Army was in Disarray. The Brits were temporarily out of action while rebuilding. Their campaign was spectacularly successful, whole soviet armies were destroyed. But it wasn't enough. Even under these ideal conditions they couldn't pull it off. It just wasn't doable, even if they didn't know it at the time.

I'm abundantly aware of why Germany lost the war. Shit, I spent March going through The Wages of Destruction. But this page of the thread is filled with silliness. The Soviet optics were not terrible. They were not unable to sight targets at combat ranges, nor were they grossly inaccurate. Bong's assertion that an ISU-152 only killed the Panther because it struck its turret is one of the wrongest things I've heard in my life.

As a side note, the Germans didn't really have the best kit in several respects when they were most successful - 1940 and 1941 saw the Allies have more numerous and arguably superior tanks, the British aircraft were more than a match for what the Luftwaffe had, and the German navy was grossly inferior. The German infantry kit wasn't superior, German Arty was within the same ballpark, etc etc. The German armor during Barbarossa got the job done, but not because of superior technology - the T34 was superior to the PzkfwIII and PzkfwIV. We tend to remember the Panther and Tiger tanks but these are not present during the decisive parts of the war. Jet fighters and Assault rifles don't show up until it's basically over.

I want the game to remain Ostheer vs Red Army, and USA vs ... Westenheer? Whatever the hell you'd call it, anyway.

The balance is getting to a state where it's nearly right, and we do NOT need two new factions to stuff everything up again for another 12 months.
