The PE Scout Car was supposed to be the "jeep" vehicle (no fuel cost, good vs snipers) that could also go out and capture territory or lock it down like an OP, and the Armoured Car was a different unit with a meant for light combat and support. In CoH2, it's one unit instead of 2, and it's role is more combat oriented even without the upgrade. The problem is, that role is nullified partially by AT Grenades and nullified completely by Guard Rifles. That is one good answer, sir. In: COH2 Balance

But best way to deal with snipers is the scout cars. Yeah, thats the theory, but when playing, a SKILLED soviet player will place GUARDS infront of the sniper, so your grens when starting to walking-chasing the sniper, they will shoot at the guards, and these, protect also those snipers from Scout cars and Halftracks and bla bla... next idea to counter them? Thus I can expect that from a doctrinal ability. I made the experience that scopes on an Elefant can be an annoyance. If it has to turn the hull to shoot at the enemy at maximum vision, the effect of scopes is lost and the vision is gone. The Elefant will then shoot and adjust its hull on something else that´s closer. The target far away has escaped. Thats why I think the Elefant should have a mode of No-Rotation or Only targeting tanks... In: Ostheer Strategies
