so we can experience even more MG spam in bigger game modes?
Some people simply cannot compete without mgs. Some people think the game would be better if every faction had mg in t0.

This would have been SOOOO much easier from the start if Relic made the weaponless WC51 T0 with 20 muni upgrades to .30 Cal MG for early game armor or Triage Support (Ambulance Reskin). So from T0, you can get +1. I am happy with 3 or 4 rifle opening. Being able to get a morter for variety does not interest me. That said I do like options and flexibility against certain axis builds. I resent needing to tech or choose a commander to deal with an mg or 2 mg that made it imto a vital house. Add WC-51 with upgrades and fuel cost to deal with kubel spam and to scout. Add flames and smoke to re but remove smoke from rifles. Move morter to lt teir. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Usf can counter mgs effectively without morter, although on some 1v1 maps it can be a real pain where you have to play significantly better ( micro wise ) than your opponent. However, you will need smoke nades or flamers if Ost is camping buildings, meaning tech or doc choice to counter the 1st unit ost can build from t0 . Vehicles will counter mgs in the open, just like good flanking but can only be considered a soft counter to mgs in building, and in reality a light vehicle is better used elsewhere as an mg can simply stall in the house until support arrives taking relatively little damage or pop incendiary rounds once vet 1 and then counter its own counter. Edit : The light vehicles I am referring to are M20 and Stuart. The M15A1 AA Half-track and M5 Halftrack are quite effective vs mgs. The initial counter to mgs in buildings in coh1 was flamers. As the game progressed more options such as morter, sniper, m8 etc became availabe as usf teched. In coh2, if you want flamers you have to pick a doctrine which restricts usf options for the rest of the match and if your unlucky, as is often the case with assult engies your flamer will explode. The issue is more about design failures.
+1 Early nades will often bite you in the arse, especially if ost player not only survives with no unit wipes but teches quickly to t2. In: COH2 Balance |

A T0 hmg for usf would be batshit Op and far worse than the morter. In: COH2 Balance |

Mg 42 cost 260. Rifles cost 280. Both are t0 units. Usf will not out number ost early game. If a rifle squad gets suppressed and another squad is not nearby to flank it has to retreat meaning ost has superior numbers in field. If a mg is in a house or soft retreats to a house the rifle squad cannot get it out of the house. Fighting pit is a very short term counter ( in most instances ) that will in most cases be destroyed once any vehicle arrives which is simply a waste of mp. For the record, i only go morter if ost is camping in houses and i want to wait on making a doctrine choice. Most times 1 morter is sufficient, but if the game becomes frustrating because there is 3 or more mgs on the field then i will go double morter. In: COH2 Balance |

I rank between 250 and 500, depending on how interested i am in the game. 3 mg openings occur about 15% of the time. 2 mgs are standard 80% of the time ime. Too be clear, i don't have trouble vs mgs or fast 222. I know how to flank, I know the counters and when to get them and I am aware what ost can and can't do when skipping t1. When I asked earlier how else to counter the build i described, it was not to seek advise, rather it was to demonstrate the flaws in usf design. Why should i spend 25 fuel to counter a t0 unit, which in turn delays my healing and own vehicle. Why should I have to lock in a doctrine to get flames or mines. In: COH2 Balance |

Flanking 3 mgs is easier said than done especially against players with good mg micro. Upgrading to smoke will delay ambulance and tech and is no guarantee to work especially against houses. If you fail to push ost of the map he will have 2 AC out before you have a stuart and you've got no munis for mines or AT nades because they were wasted on smoke. Smoke nades are a terrible choice when ost spams mgs because they are usually skipping t1, and you will be facing t2 units which nades are ineffective. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: So what can we/Relic do to fix USF Mortar spam?11 Jul 2016, 09:15 AM
The only issues with the usf morter are its ROF and its ability to wipe 4 man squads. They are also quite dangerous in pairs, but then again so is double Ost morter or double leig. I also think axis is far better able to wipe a morter if it is able to get CQ unit close enough. I think it is a good thing that it counters mg spam and camping. Any fix should include improvements to ost and not just a heavy handed nerf to the morter. In: COH2 Balance |

I just played some dude ranked about 150 as Ost who built 3 mgs, a gren, a morter, into double AC, then callin puma. After building 3 rifles and upon seeing multiple mgs, I built double morter, then capt, stuart, and then 2nd stuart. I teched zooks in addition to deal with light vehicle. Game was over in about 12 mins My opponent cried op the whole game. Now I know the playerbase has gone to shit skill wise ( i am no great talent myself ) but given the current issues surrounding the usf morter i would have thought someone ranked that high would be capable of adapting. Yes morters may be a little op atm ( particuly in pairs ) but they sure do shut shit like this down hard and rightly so. Anyone who has any alternative ideas as to how i should counter this build and not rely on morters or doctrinal flamers or doctrinal mines, please feel free to comment. In: COH2 Balance |
