Thread: Fall Balance Preview27 Jul 2017, 11:52 AM With the changes to Stug Penetration I have to ask will this effect stugs countering KV8's. I have come across a few KV8's lately and the stug hasn't alway penetrated. Not to sure on range although I wouldn't have describe every encounter as max range. I don't really think the stug should have to close the distance especially if KV8 is accompanied by 2 zis guns.. So will this match up change or am I expected to get a panther???? In: Lobby

This house however serves no real purpose because LOS to the two cutoffs is blocked. It still benefits the attacking side more. Remove the LOS obstructions so it overlooks the points (similar to the muni points on crossing). The attacking side can still harass/decap the point even under mg fire, just won't be able to cap it. I also think you should adjust the points so that either fuel is a viable option, possibly even swap fuel and vp. The middle could also do with a little something. It is his central idea. Most people will not contribute to map design discussions as it can be hard and time consuming to articulate what should be changed. As a result the mapmaker believes there is no demand for change and without overwhelming evidence won't accept criticism or advice to change the map.. Hence I would have added a poll on whether certain features should or shouldn't remain and hope that enough people show interest in the discussion. In: Mapping Discussion

Consider other 1v1 maps and the placement of houses and the use of red, green and yellow cover. At the very least the house should be behind the vp not in front. In: Mapping Discussion
Thread: Westwall by Lord Rommel27 Jul 2017, 02:48 AM This picture clearly highlights the issues this map has with cutoffs. - Multiple brick houses with 5 - 6 windows on approaching side. - There are actually more windows facing towards the base than away from the base. - Excessive use of red cover. - The house on 2nd cutoff is in awkward position and forces units over red cover to take it. This pic shows house with no windows on one side. This house is useless for trying to push out from base but excellent for attacking base. The fact of the matter is, if you loose the second cutoff and allow your opponent to take those houses then it is almost certainly gg. Virtually all other 1v1 maps are easier to push back out. That is a design error and not a map error. But i see that full health houses turned into a problem during the last patches. I had already released a new version of Westwall with strength reduced houses I think most people would agree that when designing maps, especially competitive maps, there needs to be a willingness to work within the framework of the game. Designing a map according to some artistic vision and ignoring the effect on gameplay is really short sighted and not in the best interest of the game. Placing multiple full health brick houses with numerous windows and surrounded by red cover outside a base is incredibly poor design, largely because if your opponent gets into them then it is enormously difficult to remove them. That said, the changes to westwall last patch were an improvement and the changes in westwall v2 improve the situation even more so. Westwall has the size of a standard Relic 1on1 map. I have forgotten which 1on1 map size i have used but it as big as Arnhem or other 1on1 maps (in term of playable area). I'm using Relic map sizes often for my maps. Westwall is the second largest map in 1v1 behind caen according to map details, although that figure could be more of a guide than hard fact.
