It was gutted in this patch:
M4A3 Sherman
The Sherman's HE shells have been adjusted to be more reliable at dealing damage, but also less capable at wiping out squads.
Projectile now bypasses terrain/landscape.
HE shell AOE distance from 0.75/1.5/2.25 to 0.5/1.25/2.25
HE far AOE damage from 0.05 to 0.01
The first sentence was utter rubbish. They decreased the AOE to 20% of what it was, which didn't make it more reliable. It never had a significant problem with colliding with terrain.
which patch? shouldnt be this one...
That would explain why the T-34 and P4 have the best 80 damage radius of any medium tank. Not yet nerfed. |
Nice. |
And the weird bonus fuel to unlock it. |
The balance team isn't perfect but after reading your comments about a multi purpose panther and brumbar and the b4 thread, I'm at least glad that you're not on it.
Updated post. Yea, i am wrong about the Panther and Brummbar issue.
Not the B-4s, i think that needs time to see if actually OP or just forcing a meta adjustment. Maybe increase rocket truck pop, spamming more than 2 becomes really abusive. |
there is a pop efficiency issue, with Axis tanks and elite infantry being REALLY pop efficient, especially in the late game long range fight. This enables rocket arty spam
The answer, to my understanding, is just push up the pop cost of high power multi-purpose (add 2 to Panther/Brummbar) and make Land Mattress and Calliope non-doc to punish elite infantry spam. Yea, I will keep campaigning on rockets for everyone.
Or put a cap on rocket artillery count. I doubt people want that. And not all shock arty is equal. |
It is a bit expensive for what it does. Maybe cutting munis might help, or making smoke last longer. I like the concept, its just too expensive to use. |
The Stug E is alright, but its in a faction with best-in-class AI tank guns. The P-4 is an infantry murdering beast, as is the Brummbar. Its just too weak for the faction. It does only 80 damage and has instant fall off, so it will basically never 1 shot a model, very much atypical for OST armor.
The Stug E has Fantastic AOE characteristics, but a slow reload and no insta-bleed value. Looks like a more recent AoE profile. It just needs 2-3 shots to murder a squad. The Brummbar has an even better AoE profile and full tank damage, so its hard to justify the Stug E.
The easiest way to improve it would be just increase base gun damage to 120, it has great mods already.
The HEAT shell is weird, a weak 40 damage perfect accuracy and pen on a 75mm snub nose... It may be worth swapping that out or outright removing while improving gun damage. |
Didn't think it was that significant. Iirc the kill radius was only like .2 or .3 larger in size. It definitely didn't hurt, but it's not a huge deal
Howitzers aren't supposed to reliably counter each other anyway. They CAN, but reliable counters are the off-maps. Which work just as well against B4 as anything else, regardless of how silly it is rn
A b4 "one-shotting" a lefh sounds like something that can only be common when there's several B4s. If they are limited to 1 (among other changes) I feel like RNG should still keep that rare
CB had 25% higher damage with the SAME AoE characteristics AND 1.25 FoW accuracy mod, vs 1.75 normally. The saturation numbers were dumb.
CB REALLY let the leFH snipe other howitzers. It was oppressive. |
no it was referring to doctrinal "Forward Observation Post" upgrade and medics.
Ah, bugger. Back to medics. |
it has been like that in previous patches also.
I believe it was specifically called out to allow both this patch. |
