You seem to flood alot of munitions as ostheer. Versus above average Playes minefields get cleared via every kind of vehicle, sweepers or indirect fire 4/5 times. As tradeoff your infantry has still stock rifles, your tanks dont have a pintle mg and doctrine abilities are overrated anyway. And who the fuck needs tellermines.
One or two well placed minefields is affordable and can make a big difference vs USA spam. Its best to place them defensivley where its hard work for detectors to clear them (appart from retreat paths which is a cheeky one, need good timming though).
s mines lol u have to be blind to not see the sign
Even if he did see the sign, they still help win engagements by defending an MGs flank etc. Once you know hes seen it, just send somthing to see off any engies that come. |
s mines lol u have to be blind to not see the sign
S mines win games, they are honestly so good and should not be overlooked.
You can place them on some of his flanking routes, forcing him into your MGs and helping you win engagements much easier.
Sneak pioneer behind and place on retreat path for easy wipes (easy in 1V1).
Put them in hard to spot locations like between buildings and hedges.
People don't realise that sometimes to counter something strong you must focus on the other part of his army. Kinda like facing a Tiger Ace and trying to wipe his inf for bleed. |
Both Axis factions rely on armour to trade effectively/cause bleed vs USF infantry.
Its absolutley possible to beat his inf without the use of front line tanks, and when you do you pretty much win the game.
There are many doctrinal abilities that help you vs infantry.
S - mines are also brutal.
Panzerwerfer is also good (and can be kept safe from Jackson).
Invest in countering his inf and Jackson is useless. It may be overperforming, but its not an I win button. Also I use Tigers mostly when I can put them in urban areas which negates range advantage of TDs. |
Should add a new feature, instead of retreat, hit a button and one squad member dives on the grenades to save his squad |
Heres the thing with Ost panther: Ost is a faction built on varied combined arms that need to work together to maximise potential.
This is true in early tier infantry fighting, but it still holds true at higher tiers (tanks). THIS IS A CONCIOUS DESIGN DESICION.
Ost Panthers are not really supposed to be able to solo enemy armour, this is why they have a slow rate of fire.
Their 'purpose' in a combined Ost force is to fulfill the role that all other Ost units cannot, that is to chase wounded tanks and deal the killing blow, also to react to fast mediums putting pressure on flanks, or even on ocassion, dive a Katushka or Stuka.
However, they are not intended to be the sole or main AT for Ost, it should be a nice mix of other things. When you consider this, I think they do their job of chasing tanks very well due to their speed and armour, giving them great durability in FAST ACTIONS.
They are not best suited to slug outs with opposing tank destroyers, but this is the basis many people are judging them uppon (they feel underwhelming in this scenario).
You are Ost, you need to rely on Paks, thats how the faction works. It is not a fast attack faction, thats why the panther is a luxury unit to cover your big mobility weakness.
Going T4 really should mean you get a panzer werfer too (combined arms) and not necessarily spam 2 Panthers. |
Instead of the ussual Axis thought process of gravitating towards the heaviest armour they can get and cruzing to a victory with that, you should take advantage of the fact that the Jackson is literally useless vs infantry.
He will have most of his infantry killing force in the form of rifles/airborne/rangers, so focus on countering those, then the jackson is useless will get fausted/shreked or forced back into base.
The suppression strafe from Assault support is good here, combine with a very well screened Tiger to see off deep infantry pushes, just dont put in on the front line for the Jacksons to eat. Throw in MGs and infantry and you can be very difficult to deal with without Shermans or similar. Also think about using a Panzerwerfer and concentrate on units that are stationary (Support weapons, Capping squads, reinforcing squads).
The Jackson cant dive for a Pwerfer in same way a Panther might, because its low armour means its got a much higher chance of being snared, and Axis are good at snaring.
Jackson is ONLY good when your relying on your armour to do most of the work. |
haha. Im not sure the JP4 had much going for it though |
Ive had COH2 crash twice on loading sceen in a 2v2, it happened EXACTLY when I moved my mouse onto enemys soviet commanders.
I didnt check which commanders this happened with sorry, possibly might have been urban defence, if I see it again, ill double check which one. |
I don't understand why they nerffed maxim setup time, nerffed suppression and gave a wider arc..
Because maxims were too good as a front line unit obviously (spam). Those changes dont effect it too badly when its used as a support weapon to infantry play (i.e. not front line). |
I dont know but 2v2s feel balanced but like almost too balanced lol like games are really trihard a lot now.
Games are trihard? Like your not walking over the enemy? Sounds like a good game to me haha.
You shouldnt find allied early game as easy as previously, because they made allied late game stronger. The patch seemed aimed at factions have less of a strong advantage at different stages of the game. |
