Before watching I just want to say that as Allies a lot of the time it feels like you are doing well in the early game but it can be an illusion if the OKW player is locking 1/3 of the map down and letting you push a bit.
Despite the Germans finding themselves in exactly the kind of attrition war that they knew they had to avoid, they adapted reasonably well enough to prolong the war past where it should have ended.
That said the Soviet Union was indeed a special case as no other nation could afford to lose so much territory, men, equipment and other resources in the first 6 months and then continue on to provide stiff resistance into launching resurgent counter-offensives. Barbarossa was and could only have been foiled by the Soviet Union.
Really? When i searched for games in coh1 (I played from release and 2-3 years afterwards) it always was 3 axis searching , 1 or 0 allies and it took forever to find a game.
In my experience (or memory?) Allies were often much more popular in CoH1 2V2 auto. It could always swing the Axis way too but there certainly wasn't an clear bias towards Axis like there is and always has been in CoH2.
Actually it's probably better to have the caches out and done with early (depending on the map) as a extra Volks here or there under 5 minutes is not going to make or break anything as ground will be constantly won and lost around that time.
The problem is when you build the cache early and get it destroyed early.
But I didn't just say " if you played the game you'd understand". When I point out units like the P4 in the first post, and T3...what does Ost T3 mean to you? To me it means StuG, Ostwind, and P4...with the core unit being P4...Soviet T3...core unit being the 76..
So now at your behest I have to explain why P4s and T-34/76s are not competitive? I'm sorry but that is beyond the scope of this thread and there are plenty of other discussions being had on the subject. "What is to be done with Ostheer" is a good one, take a look there if you want to sort of get the background. Alternatively go 1v1 as Ostheer and try T3 out and tell me how it feels.
It was just an opinion poll on rewards units and whether people would like the idea, not necessarily getting into the nitty gritty of what exactly to implement. Really didn't want to derail that by talking about how T3 is weak right now for Ost/SU, despite that being the premise.
Idk, even when I play OKW I limit bunching to groups of 2 squads and usually get no more than 2 schreks per game. Playing OKW honorably without blobbing can be very fun/rewarding.
