The german mortar fires fast and fires accurately enough to counter maxims. PS: Also snipers. Half the german T1 units counter the maxim. Use them. Still based on luck. either a mortar 2 shots a maxim or you miss 20 times. shit happens. and snipers are simply not cost effective counters. Im sorry but i what other use would riflenades have it they got nerfed? maxims like mg42 are meant to be in the back not in the front so thats why it gets riflenaded. In: COH2 Balance

I dont base my strategy on luck. and the maxim is not the same as a mg42. Riflenades nades need to stay to prevent maxim spam from taking the entire map. I dont think people want to understand that this ability is one of the few counters to maxims. removing it will greatly upset early game balance In: COH2 Balance

If only the germans had some sort of unit out of their T1 building that could lob mortars at static targets. Or some other unit in their T1 building that could pick the maxim crews/guards off one by one from long range. But alas, the german T1 building only has grenadiers! Whatever can the poor germans do? Yes rely on the rng god to win battles that is going to work well. In: COH2 Balance

Scripts with molotovs destroy mg42 i see no reason why grens with riflenade cannot do the same. And i see no reason in your suggestion to use very frail support weapons to counter a cheap maxim. The whole point of machine guns is to hold back infantry that walks into its arc of fire. I would agree with you if the maxim was like the mg42. but besides that they are machine guns and suppress people they have nothing in common. And very simply put the maxim needs counters. What happesn to conscripts that are in the open running to molotov an mg if they have grenadier support. They die. What happesn to grenadiers when they are running to riflenade a maxim with conscript support, nothing because they don't need to run anywhere. The riflenade needs its range reduced. No it doesnt. unless the maxim gets some packup and setup time nerfs i dont see any reason to nerf the rifle nade which is the hard counter to the maxim. In: COH2 Balance

For a conscript to use a molotov on an MG42, it has to run in close and due the massive arc of the MG42, there is a high chance they will get suppressed. For a grenadier to use a rifle grenade, it can still fire it far away (may still be in cover) but even if not, the arc of the Maxim is tiny and so the is a much less risk of becoming suppressed. If you stop them both using them while suppressed, the conscript will be pretty screwed where as the grenadier is all fine and dandy. If you were to introduce the suppression rule without changing the rifle grenade, it would make it even further away from the molotov than it is now. The arc of the maxim is not tiny. the arch of the mg42 is just overkill and for the most part useless. currently oorah and molotov is sufficient to remove a mg42 from the front as the mg42 has extremely poor suppression.. Thread: HOLY POTATOES !!! patch 3/2526 Mar 2014, 09:06 AM From what i have seen so far rifles and lmg's have become the dominant weapon so far. standing out in the open is a good way to get your shit killed. Because of this change assault weapons have far less impact and shocks and assault package script should be handled with care. charging rifle soldiers in cover is suicide. you really need to flank with them. Also goes for the maxim and mg42. parking them in the open is not a good idea. that said trying to charge them from the front will give your soldiers a bad case of death. In: COH2 Gameplay
