For instance, the defensive doctrine is built around being given room and having spare units to build a doom fort. Shreks don't need faster aimtime vs sus and t34s even if it was balanced out with logner reload. This cryfest is centered around the t70, nobody has mentioned shreks needing a buff vs su and t34. It would change the matchup vs other tanks even if you found some perfect conversion in epic balance land between aim time and reload.. That aim time change would make it more likely to get off max range shots vs reversing su85s, if you need a example. In: COH2 Balance

In theory, this means you cannot be beaten because you can guard it with infantry and ostwinds etc. My problem with it is that it's too easy for the soviets to dominate this thing with artillery. I think there's room for improving the pak 43. In my opinion the katusha and the mortars should be maybe slightly less efficient vs the pak43. Remember the 17 pounder in vcoh? It was not decrewable by snipers or mortars. Only the stuka and shreks could take it out. Now I dont think it should be as the 17 pounder. But it hardly is close to this today. The way I see it, the main way to take out AT guns should be infantry and flanks. But even 2 katusha rocket hits stands to decrew the pak 43. this is conjecture of course, but you don't see much pak43s in replays or in games. I believe its because you are so reliant on completely destroying any katushas and keeping his mortars occupied. A small buff the the surviability of the pak43 crew and emplacement would make it worth its cost more. In: COH2 Balance

Imo the combined cost, positioning and micro required to pull of an ambush as you suggest is disproportional to the cost, positioning and micro of a single T70. I still endorse a faster first fire salvo from Shreks, as offset by a longer reload time. This rewards Shreks for managing to get into range/ambush of especially a T70, keeps the same net result in more protracted engagements vs later heavier Sov tanks, and doesnt affect infantry combat. With a shorter aim time, Shreks can play the same cat and mouse, hide and seek as the T70 can, by moving in and out of LoS while firing shots in return to the T70s potshots. With a longer reload time they become increasingly vulnerable after the first salvo. TLDR:It makes Shreks, at cost, able to respond to T70s, but doesnt skew the subsequent engagements vs more expensive armor. Ive used your Pak+Shrek suggestion, but it relies very heavily on a 2 unit combo, positioning and exorbitant cost compared to what you are countering. Reducing Shrek aim time and increasing reload makes sense not only for the T70 engagements, but overall. Faster initial salvo, slower followup. Meaning Sov has time to get out before the second one, but is more vulnerable to ambushes as everyone has stated and agreed is the sort of placement a Shrek design should support. It's unfair to comapare the pak + shreks to a single t70 costwise. The goal for the ostheer player is to not lose them and keep them prevailing against more than a single t70. This is because a single t70 will not be able to do anthing vs this combo other than pick off unsupported units. As the game progresses the lack of armor on the t70 makes its flimsyness a larger micro concern for the soviet player Yes it's easier to micro a t70 vs a pak and shreks than to catch it for the ost player. But in the game there's so many small goals that you have to achieve to win the game.It doesn't help the t70 guy that he's causing 2-300 mp worth of damage with his t70 if you are holding fuel and a vp is able to stall for the tier where your map control units come out (T3) the potshot situation is a classic coh situation. it's what you do with more maneuvrable or better range units Imo the combined cost, positioning and micro required to pull of an ambush as you suggest is disproportional to the cost, positioning and micro of a single T70. While this is a subjective discussion that I can appreciate I am sure we can digup tons of scenarios where the shoe is on the other foot. For example: microing a su 85 w support vs a blitzkrieg p4. Thread: Future Balance Items by Relic24 Nov 2013, 14:02 PM it's a nice point stephen and I think a lot of people disregard what I would call formation, some times there is a situation where a vehicle first scout is okay (like a hatch open t70) but 99% of the time it should be "rifles lead the way" mid to late game sending in anything other than infantry first can be detrimental to your strategy, you end up wasting time repairing or losing a critical support unit. once common AT play vs t70 reaches the point where screening with infantry is 100% neccessary, people will realize that having to bleed that manpower to scout as industry doctrine actually is a significant tradeoff @nullist it's very simple, in coh 1 there was a unit stat called moving reload modifier or something, basically was 1.5 for a lot of units, meaning that the time of the fire cycle that used reload would be slower for units on the move, how exactly it interacted wasnt common knowledge but it was noticeable edit: (after rummaging through coh 2 stats site) its not visible on the coh 2 stats page, but then again the site doesn't mention that it contains all stats, it has the DPS calculations but not the factors for the formula.. looking at the site in a bit more detail the stat could not be found even in the raw data. so there is a possiblity that they actually changed this around. i will try to look at this next time im ingame, sadly i dont have a stop watch to check one indicator of a possible modifier being irreleveant is the min/max of the panzershrek being 8.25 im surprised that this was removed since it rewarded keeping still with tanks (overall rewarding good positioning and micro) In: COH2 Balance
