Thread: Grenadier potential: Fighting fire with fire12 Dec 2013, 19:38 PM The problem is that rifle grenades allow a Gren to frontally walk right up to a soviet maxim and kill 1/2 the crew. If the maxim had a crew of 4, absolutely no one would use them. Maxims are already underused as is. Why do people want to "balance" maxims vs mg42s and soviet mortars vs german mortars isolated in a vacuum? Balance is far far more complex than that. The GOAL of balance is give people incentive to use a broad variety of units. A unit that is rarely used is a hint, although not conclusive, that it may be underpowered. In: COH2 Balance

But the thing is that the mark target ability makes a primarily AI tank (t34) overperform vs both p4s and stugs. Even if you win (stugs and paks cant "follow" and finish the job) - you're just left with AT. The industry units however are good at both AI and AT duty. Which means gg vs support weapons and shocks/guards And 85s aren't that bad vs inf either. Maybe new patch will change the inf vs tank _cannon_ gameplay, but industry will still be able to bring out kv8 that negates t1 + t2 from germans entirely. You are relying vet 1 on pak or mines if you want any kind of chance vs the kv8. Actually, a T34/76 will still lose to a P4 with Mark Target. A T34/85 owns a P4 even without Mark Target. It doesn't make the entire commander OP. I don't see a single top soviet player use this commander. Personally, I gave the commander a brief try, but found it lacking. In: COH2 Balance
