Thread: My opinion on the units post patch.21 Aug 2013, 21:01 PM Yes, if you want to play with useful snipers, you should play Soviet, because as Ostheer, you're only bleeding your own MP. On-topic: After about 4 or 5 games into the new patch, I must say it has been a positive experience. Soviet T3 finally became useful again and with the new changes to the SU85, rushing it becomes redundant. To say that the game is balanced now, would be a large claim though. I'm going to need a lot more games before I form my final opinion on the patch. The biggest fear I had with this patch is are the changes to the pop system, though I must say it didn't annoy me when playing. Certain tactics did become redundant though, such as keeping your ground with mainly infantry until you can call in Tigers. Wouldn't recommend trying that one anymore In: COH2 Balance

Certain strategies might become redundant (for instance keeping your fuel and calling in a sh*tload of Tigers), but apart from that, I don't see too much harm in it. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Looking for Steam friends21 Aug 2013, 18:53 PM Howdy Long time user of the forum, though I think I've never introduced myself. I'm hmortier and I'm looking for steam buddies. I play Ostheer mainly, but I'm no fanboy, so I play quite a lot of Soviet as well. Currently I'm playing a lot of 3vs3 as german, but I'm getting a bit bored with it because I've only lost on two occasions. It seems to me that winning as Soviet in 3vs3 is only possible if you organize well as an overall army (the two times we lost was against Clan members). So the main reason I made this is to find some people willing to play Soviet with me in 3vs3, who don't mind planning a bit. I'm not really looking for a clan (which is why I'm posting here), but I am looking forward to filling up my steam friendlist with CoH2 players. Obviously I don't play 3vs3 exclusively, so don't hesitate to add me, even if you don't play 3vs3. I'm an overall good player, but not a die-hard professional. See you on the battlefield! On a total of a hundred, I expect the changes to be quite big. I'm just going to have to check it out tonight. I've always been holding it back, figuring it doesn't stand much of a chance due to low armor value. T-34: I know how to use this one, I know it's not meant to take on an enemy tank alone, but apart from that game I mentioned earlier on, I never had a feeling I needed them. Rushing SU-85s seemed like a more valid strategy, until I met the Tiger response SU-76M: I confused this tank with the heavy assault call-in However, the SU-76M could be a replacement for my ow so beloved 120mm Heavy Mortar. Thread: Extremely Predictable Endgame10 Aug 2013, 13:14 PM I also skip T3 when playing as Soviet, though I think I'll stop doing that, after getting my ass handed to me last night. The German side didn't use any fuel and than came with a shitload of Tigers... I think I could've won if I pushed forward when I had the chance, but it seems to me T3 has more value than I suspected. Maybe getting the T34 as a call-in could be an alternative strategy as well. In: Strategy Desk
Thread: Use of certain tanks10 Aug 2013, 13:02 PM @Godz_Mercenary Ramming a Panzer may disable it for a while, you still need some punch to take it out. Do you rely just on guards rifles, at guns etc to deal with in once it's immobile? Because if the panzer is guarded by infantry, which it should be, that could become a problem. Also, the German tanks have a decent speed when their engine is damaged, making it able to get out of the hot-zone before your T34 does. Yesterday I played a game, where I finally saw the use of T3, after T4. I had 2 SU-85s and was using them to deny the enemy any access to a certain part of the map. However, the enemy didn't advance for a while, nor did I. When he did advance, he had Tigers (should've seen that one coming). At that point, I could've won using T34s to ram them, but it wasn't to be. Maybe using them as a call-in would be ideal. I am going to have a better look at the Ostwind next time I play Ostheer. @Undostrescuatro Perhaps I should look into some new techniques, using the full range of tanks in the game. In: Strategy Desk

I'm ranked 64 now and I noticed that I only use a couple of the tanks the game gives me access to, which made me wonder; Are the tanks I don't use completely useless, or I am not using them as I should... Here is a list of the tanks I rarely or never use. Soviet tanks: T-70: Used to spam this one before the patch, no longer see any use in it. Rarely see it being used. T34/76 Medium Tank: Used to use this a lot in the beta and post-launch, but recently I'm skipping the entire T3, and go straight for SU-85. SU-76M Assault Gun: I only use this as a call-in from the command tree when I'm going for a conscript spam-like strategy (use nothing but cons and called-in guards rifles to gain map control, build no buildings (perhaps sniper if deemed necessary) and than call in these tanks.) Ostheer tanks: StuG III Ausf. G Assault Gun: Never used it, go straight for P4 instead. Flakpanzer IV Ostwind: Never used it. Sturmpanzer IV Assault Gun: Never used it. My question is this: do these tanks really have use in the game as it is now? I seem to be able to snatch quite a lot of victories (though losses are no stranger to me) without using any of these.
