If you think a certain strategy is overpowered, you should use it. If you think Germans are overpowered right now, try them out and do what you think is overpowered. It benefits you as a player and the metagame itself. |
I actually figured out how to stream. OBS is MUCH better than anything else out there that I tried.
The last error I got was when I tried to add my livestream to coh2.org I get error 500. Anyone know what could be causing that?
Also I would like to set it up so I can view the twitch chat while playing. Any ideas other than getting a second monitor? |
What FatalSaint said didn't make much sense to me, but I figured it out.
Click start on your computer and then click run and put this line in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Company of Heroes 2\RelicCoH2" -window -lockmouse
You need to link the directory that your coh2 application is in. You don't need to deal with steam IDs.
This took me longer than it should have to figure it out so I feel your pain. Hope it helps.

Why do you need to back tech to get AT guns when you are coming out with SU-85s?
Another thing to do is to get guard squads with DP light machine guns to scout out and button enemy vehicles while executing them with SU-85s. It's quite popular and effective. Also makes use of those munitions you are floating.
The thing I don't like about this strategy is that you are pressured to get an SU-85. If your opponent gets out an early panzer 4, they can hurt you badly and probably will win the game. If you get out an early SU-85, the game continues without much punishment to your opponent.

Thanks for being a good sport crj. You were put into some frustrating situations with this strategy. For what it's worth, I thought you were a competent player. Both of us, like most people, can get better.
"It seems to me that this T1 strategy relies a lot on doing damage early and denying fuel in order to not get caught out by the Pz4. Do you agree?"
Yes, I mostly agree. The build orders for soviet are conventionally T1/T4 or T2/T3. I didn't mean to exemplify the build order itself as much as the use of light vehicles in general.
I will say as a side point that I am having a hard time utilizing t2 effectively in 1v1. The lack of early game map coverage is really crippling for me. |
Congradulations for making tier3 work against the dreaded SU-85... somehow. I think the soviet's downfall was that he never got more than 1 su-85 at a time and didn't use them to support one another. That halftrack loaded panzershrek flank was inventive.
An all around entertaining game. Quite a mess in the middle. |
This is a replay I had earlier today which involves using light vehicles to win.
I chose this replay since it showcases very well how I think players should be using their light vehicles. Many players I see use their light vehicles as more of a lesser tank, throwing them into a fight and pushing the enemy with them until they lose them. I believe a light vehicle's greatest weapon is its speed. Your mobility is a weapon since you choose when and where to fight. Using light vehicles to break my opponent where they are weakest and quickly retreating to avoid damage is what I was going for here. Notice how I never have my light vehicles out in front unless I need them for a specific purpose. I do get careless and lose some squads, but I think overall it is a good demonstration of the use of light vehicles to win a game.
Below are the highlights:
4:00 use of light vehicle to avoid grenadiers and go straight for mg team
4:44 forced back by grenadiers. retreat light vehicle.
7:03 unloaded scout car and left engineers to cap in order to save the vehicle. Enemy 222 gets lured into a trap.
8:25 uses m3 as a logistics unit to bring conscripts to the front.
10:40 use of m3 to bait grenadiers into a trap. Another 222 is looking to hunt it down.
11:08 conscripts protect sniper from the 222
13:54 T-70 and Panzer 4 on the field. My task at this point is to avoid direct confrontation with the panzer 4 and use the T-70 to harass everywhere else.
14:46 I nearly sacrifice a conscript squad to disable the panzer 4. My T-70 is now free to harass.
15:31 Attacking panzer grenadiers with T-70 as the panzer 4 cannot do anything.
18:03 Use of T-70 to harass the machine gun on the left. Again, the panzer 4 can do nothing.

I think the pak43 is more viable in team situations where your team can cover the map more easily.
600 manpower for 260 munitions. That's probably not a good trade.
Other than that, what ThumbsUp said sounds pretty solid. |

Not that I am aware of. The closest thing to that is to order the unit to the same spot as the unit they are supposed to follow, but they might not take the same path.
What specific situation would you want to do that? |
I have been a big fan of getting two mgs right from the start and sending them to a part of the map your opponent needs such as a fuel point. If you point the machine guns at one another they are impossible to flank, and they will beat any number of starter units. The only disadvantage being that you are going to fall behind on the cap race.
After that, I get grenadiers, many many grenadiers at least 2-3 and then get tier 2. If I see an opportunity, I will get a fast flammentrack to harass infantry. Then panzergrenadiers.
At this point in the game I am moving my grenadiers and machine gun crews in pairs (1mg 1grenadier). If you attack move them together they can clean up the usual infantry fare. Many players I deal with can't handle it, but some can. For those players, you need to make use of your light vehicles or possibly get a sniper/mortar.
I don't worry about su-85s so much anymore as I usually ignore getting tier3, or any medium armor whatsoever. The next thing my fuel goes to is a tiger, elephant or panther. This means my army is mostly infantry, leaving the su-85 as a counter unit with nothing to counter. There's not much the soviets can do about it short of getting a KV-1, but I rarely see that.
I'm not going to pretend that I always win, but this strategy generally feels like a successful one for me and one I have settled on. |
