Thread: Soviet tier 1 and 2 design21 May 2014, 02:00 AM I think Sov T1 having no AT is fine as long as the units in it are powerful enough against infantry for that to be true. I think the M3 is the best early game unit this patch, and double snipers in 2v2s can be devastating as well. So it can make sense to forgo that heavy AT early-mid game for extremely powerful AI. If the M3 was worse, or if the snipers were as vulnerable as Ost snipers, I would agree that T1 would need some sort of AT to make it not completely pointless. In: COH2 Gameplay

Just for the record it wasn't a one sided game. I had played this guy twice previously, and won the first time with Cons and flamer car, stalling with T2 till Sherman call-ins. 2nd game he beat me by going close air support and beating back Shermans with paks, shreks and tellers. I called in those shocks later in the game, too late for him to have the fuel to effectively tech switch to T3. And he was doing rather well. I'm down to 2 shocks and 3 cons from 5 or so cons, 2 M3s and 2 flamer engis. He had S-mines all over, it was very difficult for me to maneuver till I got the KV8 out. I was even still on the ropes until I got a 2nd KV8 out. I agree that the KV8 should punish and almost always beat T1/T2 play, it just seems a little unfair that he retreats his grens almost immediately and it didn't matter at all. He had a one second window to retreat, that is brutal. I just think that's a bit much, that's all. In: COH2 Balance

Gren sees the KV8, 2 seconds later retreats, and 2 seconds after that is dead. Not saying this means the KV8 is OP, but it is extremely punishing to infantry. I think it should do less damage to retreating squads, but other than that I think it's fine. Just makes sense to keep it in line with every other unit in the game since accuracy modifier don't matter to flame units. Same problem with M3 flamer and FHT, but those problems are slightly mitigated by the low armor/hp that those units have. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: retreat modifiers15 May 2014, 18:42 PM Just a funny moment I had the other day. Gren saw the KV8 at 15:05, retreated at 15:07 and died at 15:09. I agree that KV8 should punish heavy T1/T2 play, but giving the German player a one second window to retreat is brutal. Killing squads on retreat should usually only happen when the enemy is between the retreating squad and its base. Just driving forward and chasing a squad that instantly retreats to its death is approaching PE armored car level broken. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Osttruppen Reserves - what's the point?14 May 2014, 18:01 PM They're not that bad. The extra 100 mp is worth it for the chance at getting LMGs and Vet 2 or 3 squads. It's great for filling out your army when you're waiting for Pumas. Having cheap reinforce squads for MGs and PaKs is nice and having disposable faust units are good as well. In: COH2 Gameplay
