Yeah the flame damage needs toning down. Granted, it is doctrinal, but it kills inf around 3x as fast as an ostwind for a similar price point, and has heavy armour which bounces P4 and at gun shots into the bargain. It's even better at killing infantry than a brummbar. |
Yeah I doubt they would nerf SU85 without buffing T34s AT capability slightly. Guess we'll find out tomorrow... |
Pak43 is great vs SU85 but very hard to keep alive. Once it has fired its position is revealed and it will be taken out very quickly. If you do build one, make sure to manually target it because it has a bad habit of blowing its cover taking potshots at infantry. |
Will try using Paks a bit more, esp if they're getting buffed (which has been hinted at). Cheers |
Yeah the fausting is the hard part, last time I tried to faust one I lost 2 full squads of grens and a good player will reverse it back, keeping your PAK facing the heavy frontal armor which deflect almost as much as P4. |
^ this. While not a hard counter, Tiger should be able to get the job done too, but SU85 stomps them much too effectively as well. |
Cheers mate, will give mines a go. I did knock about 75% health off and totally cripple a vet2 SU85 with a riegel in a recent game, just have to work on my placement. |
What heals said is very true as well, never EVER send a P4 into SU85s until you've fausted it. I imagine this will hold true after the patch as well if SU85 isn't overnerfed, it is a dedicated tank destroyer. |
I know you said no balance discussion but SU85 should be balanced very shortly as its been earmarked as one of the devs top priorities and it has been a few weeks since last patch.
In the interim, (and probably after the patch also) your best bet is to use PGs with shrecks and paks. Sovs can build katyushas from the same building which smashes both of these so I'd suggest one of you choose a commander with either recon/stuka fuel bomb to deal with those, or a commander with artillery. Similar to the sov combo of one guy going T1-T4 and the other T2-T3, I find one german going T2 heavy straight to T4, the other T1-T3 is also good. |
@Immortal: you forgot to mention when going T4 how great the Brummbar is for its price (I honestly think the KV8 is better than it, which just adds insult to injury). |
