Thread: Balancing should be done first in 4vs4 then downward9 Oct 2013, 16:07 PM 4v4s are inherently imbalanced. Explain to me how to balance a tiger's armor vs 2 t/34s that is equally balanced against 8 t34s. Magnifying dps, alpha, resources by 3 or 4 for a team destroys a unit's carefully balanced tank... all of a sudden theres enough su85s on the field to instapop a charging panther that would have no fear in a 1v1 or 2v2. If you choose to engage in 4v4 spam fests thats the risk you accept In: COH2 Balance

As you said: Its counterable if you know what you are doing. .... With CoH2 an early game lead (especially annoying if the RNG god has been unkind or your units die because of pathing/input lag) easily transitions into a significant mid/lategame advantage that a solid player will use to win the game. As you identify in your post early game success can rapidly transform into a win. Saying you can avoid cons spamming buildings is easy enough, until you miscalculate on one early engagement and find yourself cutoff from high value points, or your overall cutoff, and at a distinct disadvantage. The imbalance in my mind comes in from the calculation that a soviet player knows he will always make more use of a building than a german, and by jumping into a building especially t0, he is pretty safe. A german in a building requires constant attention. Yes counters such as mortars/flamers exist but they are specialist units that dont provide the general utility that molotovs give the most numerous unit in the game - conscripts. Its to the point that almost every game I play I have to preemptively counter building rushes which puts the burden of skill primarily on the ostheer player. One mistake and you are punished far more than a soviet player in this case... In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Game breaking items6 Oct 2013, 13:48 PM My issue with buildings isnt the RNG aspect, its the imbalance in tier0-1 between soviet molotovs and the germans lack of an equivalent hard counter. On certain maps like semoisky,langreskaya, kholdny, etc you WILL have conscripts rushing every building they can find close to a cutoff or high value point. I'm a very experienced german player, I know how to deal with it - basically ignore it and bait them out. Thats a far cry from being able to throw a molotov and 100% force the enemy out of a strong defensive position for 15 muns. If you aren't planning on countering this soviet meta from the start, you may be cutoff right from the beginning, which has ramifications for the entire rest of the game. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: MG Retreating WRONG WAY !5 Oct 2013, 19:47 PM 400+ games I've never had a unit retreat to the enemy base. I've had a few occasions of someones unit getting stuck on a fence or standing still for too long on a retreat, but these were rare. Hardly splurge worthy In: COH2 Bugs

Why would we introduce new units whose only role is to counter the opposite new unit that performs the same function? Thread: T34/852 Oct 2013, 15:44 PM Only thing striking me in those stats is the reload time doubling for some reason. Maybe cut that down to 6 seconds with some testing to see how that affects the DPS of the unit I've actually ran into a guy who beat me twice using the 34/85 as his main vehicle option. Instead of teching he used the good old perfect synergy guard doctrines to stay competitive early game, and right at about 4 cps (12-15mins in) he gets 2x t34/85s since he would already have 300 fuel saved up. At that point I didnt ever have more than 1-2 vehicles so naturally my p4 would get rammed and whatever is left would get beaten. I had to change my build entirely to deal with that, but to be honest the tanks werent the issue... the dual 120s with perfect RNG killing my squads left and right were :/ In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: T34/8529 Sep 2013, 21:48 PM I dont necessarily like the upgun option. Soviets float munitions all the time so requiring ~100 munitions for an upgrade to a 85 fuel tank just means every t34 is going to become a t34/85 almost automatically. In: COH2 Gameplay

If they get rid of the dopey 2 tank call-ins and make the t34/85 either an upgrade, buildable unit, or able to be called in individually I dont think giving the soviets an equivalent to a p4 is good for the meta. An interesting choice for this tank might be to increase its anti-tank ability while decreasing its AI ability when the 85mm gun is installed. That way both t-34 variants will have a purpose and the t34-85 isnt just the no brainer choice over a /76. It could build from the t4 building, or be an upgrade on the t-34 enabled by the construction of the tier4 building lets say. T70 - fast anti infantry T-34/76 - fast anti infantry, light anti armor T-34/85 - fast anti tank, light anti infantry Su85 - tank destroyer Su76 - anti infantry, buildings, support teams, light anti armor The t-34 fills the role of a "glass cannon". Its speedy and has nice ganky dps, but shouldnt go toe to toe with a panther or even a p4 solo and expect to win. In: COH2 Gameplay
