What I don't like in this map is the fact that all VPs are close together. In old MG42 era this was a huge advantage for Germans. Not so sure about this now as this is the only map I have banned. Because of "the old times". I dont think this map necessarily favors one or the other, but if I had to go with one id say soviets. The lack of buildings to camp in near key points is nice for once, but well micro'd scrips with molotovs/htd can go to town on this map, esp during blizzards. 120s, Zis, maybe an su76 (tho I havent seen one in a 1v1 in ages!) can clear out mg42s that are being tricky. Su85s are still an issue in the middle but most people dont use those anymore In: COH2 Balance |

the price reduction I do not support at all without changing the requirement to a t3 building and 4 cps. Otherwise you are looking at roughly similar fuel and mp costs without buildings or tech costs which is imba as hell the soviets have enough armor options that they dont need to have an equivalent to a late war p4 that builds instantly in a pair with RAM ps. take ram off of the t34/85 In: COH2 Gameplay |

+1 Resource scaling for team games seems like a no brainer that would make a lot of the people yelling about team IMBAs happy In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: T34/8512 Oct 2013, 13:44 PM
T34/85 didn't get changed when the T34/76 got a 50% damage and a small penetration buff. At the time T34/85s weren't too unpopular because the SU-85 was OP enough that someone supplementing one with the other wouldn't really notice. Hence they massively underperform against everything compared to the T34/76 now. ROF will increase the t34's already well rounded anti-infantry ability, especially combined with speed and lolcrushing of soldiers. Any ROF or damage increase needs to come with a nerfed scatter to mitigate its effects on 4 man german infantry squads. What you're forgetting is that t34/85s dont always come 45 minutes into a game when you are facing nothing but panthers and 3 p4s. A build that requires no teching or other buildings whatsoever and relies on all the doctrinal soviet callins (guards, 120s, etc which are all great units) can get these on the field 15 mins in about the same time as an su85 build or a couple normal t34s. They appear instantly, ram whatever one tank you had on the field, get repaired quickly by a couple pios and get back to work. If you have at least 1 fuel point you can continue to back tech or get another 2 called in fairly quickly if you havent already won If you are expecting t34's to be double panther callins without any teching or base building required, dream on In: COH2 Gameplay |

And why do you lose all 4 sectors to the Germans? I mean, you cold capture at least one. ^QFT The map is huge, especially early on a concerted script spam push towards the center can force the germans off. The trick is to not commit your early squads piecemeal. On the other hand the germans have to concentrate their forces on one side of the map (aka also the top because of all the dumbo points there) and if a wave is defeated for whatever reason, they basically give up control of the map on the long retreat as the soviets have more mobile/independent units. Common blizzards favor close range units like scripts/shocks with nades and help to negate the 1-2 MG42s that you will see. Mobile units like t34s and t70s will run around the map with a few scripts and cause problems as long as you watch out for a mine or two in the center vs a german player with a munition income. Guess what the munition points benefit both sides, if you dont think the soviets will be calling in constant incendiary barrages or strafing runs youre being naive. Incendiary barrages will easily decrew or force off german support teams after the damage penalty applied to them a patch ago This map while huge, blizzardrific and munition heavy is at least symmetrical balance wise as opposed to northern langreskaya which is blatantly a weaker cutoff than the south. Su-85 and T34/85 have same gun but different stats, gz Relic and su85s act more like su-100s if you want to go that route In: Replays |
Thread: Been gone for a month...where's the meta?10 Oct 2013, 00:49 AM
The big thing is that HMG42s have been significantly nerfed. You are now able to use conscript squads to flank. This makes straight conscript spam a viable strategy. Pretty good post, I would add mg42s have been nerfed enough that you cant really rely on them to hold territory anymore. Any more than 1 infantry squad will easily walk past or through one and it takes significantly longer to suppress inf even at midrange. As far as meta goes, build conscripts, rush buildings, sit in buildings, profit In: Lobby |
Thread: Balancing should be done first in 4vs4 then downward9 Oct 2013, 23:20 PM
Balancing pop cap and resource rates in relation to the number of players in a game is a great idea. Rebalancing the core stats of a unit (accuracy, armor, etc) for a mode other than 1v1 is never going to happen, nor should it. Frankly im surprised teams dont share resources in coh2, I could have sworn thats how it was in vcoh, but then I havent played that in years In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: Bunkers of the ostheer ( facepalm )9 Oct 2013, 16:08 PM
you seriously have trouble countering a bunker in a 1v1? Pretty much anything from t2 on for the soviets will take it out. Any tank including su85s and zis will make short work of it. Just dont run conscripts at it or try to mortar it to death and youll be alright In: COH2 Balance |
