very good post, I can tell you put a lot of effort into the art!
But my first impression is you are essentially copy and pasting doctrines from vcoh.
I dont agree with this persistent mentality that coh2 must increasingly recreate vcoh (with blizzards!) to be a good game.
On the doctrine vs commander debate im somewhat indifferent. Either one can work but the emphasis needs to be on gameplay balance. It is much harder to balance 11 possible unit doctrine combos, especially for team games to some extent, than it is 3, or a limited coh2 5 ability commander. If the sov get their own 11, youve just increased the gameplay variables exponentially. Relic does not have an amazing track record resolving imba designs in coh2 so far; its a slow process.

I would really prefer to see these guys as 1 cp unit that you would use to supplement your standard build, sort of like guards or shocks do for the soviets. The problem with that is what role are they gonna fill that pgrens dont? I'm not going to spend 60 muns on a super nade ability that is easily defeated. The cost of the ag nades should scale with the size of the squad since casualties remove the number of nades thrown = to casualties. The assault nades do not refund muns if you cancel as well. I should also note that the HQ auras stack if they are in range. So take that example in my linked screenshot above, 3 hqs would lead to +300% offense AND defense for all units and UNIT ABILITIES near them. The guy I played in that match talked to me for a while and told me has instantly killed ACs with buffed penals at range, killed FHT at full health 1 at nade, turned those little at guns into beasts.... seriously no testing whatsoever? Its now ruining ladders and driving what few people still play, away. The p2w debate isnt even as important as the fact that the game just became buggy and unarguably imba. I've been trying out that assault nade german cdr. I'm sure if I tried I could find a replay of it being op but using 1-2 AGs at once hasnt drastically changed my gameplay. The stug3 call in was underwhelming and I feel like it would slow my teching to p4s. The sdf250 was cute but expensive for a one trick that pony that ends as soon as you hit your first at nade or mine. I'm still in my initial games post patch, but these are just some quick observations. In: COH2 Gameplay |

I should also note that I spoke at length with that guy I took that screenshot on semoisky winter with after he won and he told me that the auras from the hqs stack (+100% offense/defense for each) in the same area like in that screenshot in my above post, leading to things like the little 45mm at gun being a beast 1 at nade destroying a full health fht penals killing AC at range with their rifles pretty quickly In: COH2 Gameplay |

I will confirm this doctrine does NOT have buildings destroyed in single hits. I had a mortar team destroying buildings pretty much full time and after about 20 mins of barrages I took down 4. The concept of this doctrine is totally fucked. Crosspost: Played my first automatch, landed on semoisky winter. Faced the brilliant new soviet urban cdr which apparantly allows infinite, instantly built forward HQs (really?) in every building on the map small or large (really?). Stacking offense/defense auras (really?). More medics on the field than conscripts ..... yeah what were relic smoking. this cdr betrays every no brainer tenant of basic game balancing such as, cost vs benefit. Do you really think its hard for a soviet player to float 80 fuel? http://steamcommunity.com/id/ImmortalCOH2/screenshot/579001433576880989 coh2 working as intended relic? Gonna try some more matches and see how they go, maybe play a more aggressive early game to punish an urban player for an early hq purchase... but I already know whats going to happen. 1 conscript slips past my line on kholdny and all my buildings will magically turn into hqs around my cutoff/fuel, "gg wp". Thread: Tanks in city battles: Something feels wrong22 Sep 2013, 13:18 PM
tanks ARE at a disadvantage in cities because infantry can use blind spots and cover/buildings to close in on them. You'd rather be running across an open field at a ostwind/p4/is2? You are confusing potential balance issues regarding soviet AT options on infantry with unrelated issues including map balance, historical arguments, and your gameplay tactics. Changes made for "city maps" will affect units in all modes, including 1v1 competitive games. What is unbalanced in a 3v3 might work great in a 1v1, and vice versa. The way to approach the desire to see increased soviet AT options is not to say "I think this is what it was IRL so this is how it should be in game" In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: increased manpower on heavy tanks is a problem21 Sep 2013, 23:42 PM
you cant balance off 4v4s for the millionth time. They would have to implement cost scaling based on the number of players in a match: either resources would decrease, or costs increase proportionately if that is your issue. I dont play large team games specifically because its just specialist unit spam (snipers, mg42s, su85s, etc) en bulk In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: Tanks in city battles: Something feels wrong21 Sep 2013, 23:38 PM
since when are tanks in the game "a problem?" Use the truesight system in coh2 to bait enemy tanks onto your mines, det charges, ambushes, faust/atnade squads and they will be sitting ducks. Tanks need infantry to support them, including checking blind spots on city maps. Relic is not going to rebalance the game because your general impression of the east front is that everything was a nice big open corn field. For every Kursk there was a stalingrad/berlin/vladiovostok In: COH2 Gameplay |
