Thread: What the PRO's think of COH221 Nov 2013, 17:02 PM
I don't think you need global upgrades to add depth they just need to add more compelling fuel expenditure options pretty t3/4cp, especially for the soviets, doesn't have to be global upgrades. The funny thing is a lot of the fuel options you have early also require a muni cost to go with them ie flamer halftrack and flamer sc. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: I demand a quick fix now!13 Nov 2013, 19:47 PM
I think the easiest way to balance the commander is tie the fuel and mp reduction to territory controlled in some way. The problem with it now is you only need to hold a few points and a vp or two, and vet t3 units can cap. The early vehicles then give you map control once they hit. And lets not forget that you don't even have to get the commander but you have it as one of your options and can just get one of the other ones and your opponent is stuck with things they don't need. This commander doesn't even need to be used with fast t-70's but can be used mid and late game, this commander has so many options it be used for, and all you need to do is make sure you don't build too much inf, which long term won' be that hard for people to figure out. Add in the kv-2 at the end and all your German inf based AT starts becoming obsolete, but you can't build armor as much as the soviet can to supplement the loss of usefulness of your mp based at. It allows you to have crappy map control early (or not since 3 cons and an engi can put a lot of pressure on Germans for 6 minutes). To then get units to take back map control, and the only thing you have to do well is not lose units and not overbuild them. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: I demand a quick fix now!13 Nov 2013, 06:50 AM
Another thing to consider is t3 units can cap at vet 1 so if you keep your early tanks alive they basically become like another inf unit but much stronger. So not having a lot of inf early really doesn't affect you that much particularly because all you need to hold are vps and a few points. It basically is a commander that says who needs map control I can tech faster without it. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: How I feel about paid commanders.9 Nov 2013, 05:02 AM
Chess is pretty stale it is all book now, no one is reinventing the wheel in chess. and while I never played vCoh from what I understand of it, currently the strats where pretty much figured out. When I say stale I don't mean it isn't interesting or fun I mean that strategic thought is reduced to execution. Sure the game will evolve long term left to just the way it is as certain strats become more popular, counter strats will emerge and that will happen weather relic adds any dlc or not assuming something isn't completely broken in the game. While I don't think relic has completely done it right and needs to be a bit more transparent in some ways about how much commander dlc they are going to release and ways to purchase it in a more easier way like a commander pass. It allows them to keep a faction with a basic core but add function on top of that in a way that changes the way faction works but by also locking you out of other possible choices. In this way each commander and unit commanders give can be independently balanced outside of the basic core. at the same time with new commanders being released as long as they are balanced properly, something the last two German commanders where not with the last dlc, it doesn't make the game pay to win but simply gives you more options. The amount of strategic depth this game is going to have in a year is going to be crazy deep if they do it right, as a person who likes to not simply play the same old stuff over and over again I like this. now if they do it wrong we have what happened last patch. I hope that doesn't happen again. In: Lobby |
Thread: How I feel about paid commanders.8 Nov 2013, 23:39 PM
The thing is though that you don't have to buy everything. if you are just single players guy you only want the single player stuff. If your into the multiplayer all you have to worry about are the commanders. Skins and faceplates are just extra stuff if you like them and can be completely ignored if you like. The idea that they are trying to do is add new content to a game over time instead of an expansion, which takes a long time and a lot of money to do. Since none of the stuff is mandatory for you to buy you can just buy what you want, the meta game however can change all the time. One of the biggest problem that rts's have is that once a game gets older it gets stale because everything is figured out and it is just execution. With commanders this will never happen, could it be done a little better sure, but this has also never been done before in an rts. In: Lobby |
Thread: P grens need durability buff8 Nov 2013, 23:27 PM
Shock troops cost 40 mp per man and are 6 man squads so if you go down to one man you have a 200 mp cost compared to 135 for pgrens. So yes shocks do have a much higher mp reinforcement cost. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Thread: CoH2 Patch News!4 Nov 2013, 19:32 PM
Two of the commanders are the ones you can't use but can see in commander selection. Which if they aren't changed means partisans for soviets. If they do have balance changes I've heard of increased mp for both sides at start and faster building soviet buildings as well as vet changes. So going to be a huge patch if it has balance in it as well. In: Lobby |
