I mean, why not? It's not going to impact 1v1 balance in a negative way. It just shouldn't be possible to enter a vehicle when you don't have the pop for it imo, that'd easily fix it. And if a sturm pio pulls of a flank you've generally lost your Maxim because of its horrible retreat animation. I lose Maxims way more often than MG42s. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Maxims vs the OKW 18 Jul 2014, 17:52 PM Yes Maxims are too strong against OKW (when spammed, 2 Maxims shouldn't be a problem at all), but its really the only thing you have against them. In the early game conscripts are okay against volks if you can manage to close in without losing too much health while you're doing that, and have no chance against sturm pios. Penals are a little bit better, but scale even worse than conscripts to the end game, and you don't get an AT gun if you go T1. Frankly, the only squad somewhat capable of dealing with OKW effectivily are the shock troops, but they're expensive, and when obers hit the field even they become pretty much worthless. I'm okay with somehow making maxim spam less strong (although I've got no idea how to do that without making the maxim a useless unit), but Soviets really need to get something to fight off OKW infantry, certainly in the late game. They offer consistent action and interesting dynamics that larger maps can't offer. Removing an entire type of map just so things can have 100 range on vast rolling fields would be a crying shame. Where's the interesting dynamic in MORTAR MORTAR MORTAR MORTAR MORTAR? Cause that's what small maps are all about, indirect fire. Also, maps like Crossing are so small that in 2v2 it's pretty much impossible to flank, because every cm² of dirt is covered by infantry in the first 5 minutes. No flanking = much boring. Tbh I like maps like Rails and Metal, and basically every other CoH1 2v2 map far more than maps like Semois, Crossing, etc in 2v2. I do agree though, removing a map only to justify increased range on a AT gun would be ridicilous. So no, I don't want the PaK to get more range. In: COH2 Balance

Or build NOTHING that will require fuel + building directly T3 + giving fuel conversion pretty soon. That will leave you with just infantry on the field + 1 panther in the middle game (maybe). Wow, what an army. I found that against Soviets you can do without fuel for quite a while with "just infantry". OKW infantry is insanely strong, and the only thing that Soviets have that does some decent damage against OKW infantry are Shock Troops. In which case you won't have to worry about T34-85s. I've opened quite a few times with a medic truck and then don't buy any vehicles at all until the Panther comes. In: COH2 Gameplay
