I am finding that they are a lot of manpower to be destroyed by 1 katyushka barrage (the pak43 mostly)...
It's sad because it's really one of the only items in the game that can compete with an su85s range. |
For these awesome devs:
There is a huge bug at the end of this where my arty won't shoot yet I get the cooldown. I expect this to be fixed by mid March, thx.
Otherwise, gg but there wasn't any arty from my side really other than the howie that wouldn't fire. |

This was a great game between two very good and very innovative players.
Thx for posting. |
Bitch about the imbalances all you want.
Play to win.

GG wp Rebel. Strafe is lame...I guess. I needed it to tame the infantry spam on a map that's realistically too big for 1v1s. For the record, you were never behind. You had me on the back foot from the start. I really picked the wrong doctrine anyways. I used 2 strafes and should have used the 120 muni on some shreks, but I'm reluctant because they're such a liability. The rest of the doctrine kind of sucks, and I rarely use it. Most of the German doctrines suck really and never provide anything essential such as guards, 120mm mortar, HtD, shocks, Kv8!!!!, etc. I never have a situation where I'm like, "yep, can't wait to get that arty officer out!!!!!! or HULL DOWN FTW!!!!!" German arty is nice in later or bigger games.
And yes S73v0, I do rant from time to time because this game fails on multiple levels. For instance:
-When there are 7 blizzards in a 20 minute 1v1
-When P2P makes 20-60 minutes of my life in 2013 insufferable. Google's about to put out a thing the size of a USB stick that lets you stream netflix, youtube, etc effortlessly for 35$ yet I paid 60$ for a shell of a game I paid 60 dollars in 2007 for. Hell, if you're into that LoL fantasty kind of stuff, DOTA 2 is FREE, BALANCED, and BETTER MADE.
-When I get a game on Pripyat & Rhzev
-For any 3v3 or 4v4 game to be a waste of time in now the second game. WHY EVEN MAKE IT A POSSIBILITY TO PLAY THESE? WHY SPEND RESOURCES CREATING MORE BAD MAPS THAT JUST TURN INTO A SHIT SHOW????
-When fausts do 0 damage to a Clown Car.
-When rifle grenades, STILL after I raised the question myself in beta, do not cancel properly.
-When the game crashes to desktop for no apparent reason and forces a "patch" that exists only to tease you.
-When I want to call in my shiny awesome "super tank" and then realize it's not only a waste of manpower and fuel but not worth the aggravation of both my sanity (because Relic obviously doesn't understand one of the fundamental parts of what made their first game enjoyable) and the processing power of my computer.
-When I'm like "man I really need some arty, like a katyushka" and then I realize I'm Ostheer, and that building is useless.
-When an SU85 1 shots my pak.
-When an SU85 makes my infantry fall to the ground over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. When it reverses quicker than my P4 goes foward. When a half health SU85 beats a full health Tiger even though it costs 50% as much.
-Whenever my units try to traverse most of the terrain.
That may cover some.
***Not to hijack your replay Rebel, but since Stoffa and S73v0 attempted to make this a thread about me (thank you, thank you) I felt responsible to retort. Again, gg wp man. |
Great guide from a great player, a real pleasure to read.

Thanks Sib |
I think it is inappropriate to introduce such a broad analogy from an entirely different war into this thread: by all means atart something in the scrapyard along these lines. But honestly, I think you may be on the wrong tack here. As, however, it would derail the thread, I am saying no more at this stage.
My argument is that the OPs questions raises an interesting discussion point about the nature of a cultural text and the role it plays beyond being a "game" or a "movie". I knew how this community would respond to him, I was right, and I was specifically giving examples in other media in which it might as well that might give some agency to his side.

I saw the instance of the 1 man maxim squad going for the cut off. I thought it was strange myself but whatever. IMO the upgraded flameHT isn't worth it atm. You could have saved the fuel and got the p4 out quicker before his kv8 which was his only tank besides the endgame is2. |
In some conditions, and on some maps, team games can be really exciting in coh2. Here is a high level 2v2 with lots of entertainment value.
Enjoy |
He actually has an interesting discussion point that IS about the game so....be more intelligent, thx.
Morgengrad,
As a scholar of History and American Studies myself, I think this is fascinating, and I understand your gripe. Cultural products (movies, music, and even historical video games) are increasing becoming didactic. Perhaps this is unintentional, perhaps not.
In the US for instance, and I'm not sure this is a good comparison, African Americans can (and currently are) having the same questions about the legitimacy of their own history. I used to be a high school and middle school teacher before I got involved in University Education but, to me, it is really appalling the disservice that is done in removing bits and pieces of the horrors of slavery (rape, murder at will, etc) from texts. Historians still debate the more sexual nature of slavery this day. Another example which I personally researched were the way Vietnam War veterans were portrayed in movies (broken, psychotic, killers, physically or mentally fractured) and what those films teach Americans who never experienced it for themselves. Not everyone from Vietnam was a "babykiller", Rambo, or Lt. Dan, or on drugs. There was no evidence of anyone ever being spit on when they returned home. You wouldn't know that from some of the more popular movies about Vietnam.
I haven't played the campaign, and I doubt I will. Maybe I should so I can add my opinion. I can say that many critics have mentioned what you are saying. I do know from just a historical standpoint, there aren't many games featuring the Eastern Front probably for the reasons you mentioned above. If we're honest, the story should be told as one of equal parts murder and atrocity as you state. Perhaps a narrative that focuses on the individual soldiers who are commanded/witness these atrocities for themselves. Perhaps the boundaries of this rich complex history are too difficult to mold into a singular text like a video game. Perhaps Canadian video game companies (all video game companies) should be more careful about crafting the stories they tell as they will influence the perception of historical fact. |

First and foremost, I think most games are decided within the first 15 minutes (emphasis on most) so the bulletins are more helpful right at the start, as opposed to tanks or arty or w/e. I feel that decking out the units who are so similar to one another gives me the slight advantage over my opponent that could be helpful. Also, in terms of decking out the grens. In 1v1s I've found that 1. mg42s are fine on their own and 2. those bulletins for grens and an lmg 42 upgrade post 85 munis only enhances their abilities to remain relevant in the late game. I also always usually get Guards for some sort of light AT and the other diverse capabilities they provide.
Curious to what you guys use and why. I just looked through the mortar bulletins and as sure as Qduffy has an affinity with them...some of them look tasty. I was wondering if anyone is using them or anything else. |
