Yea, I'm not sure how this is going to work for automoatch. It's nice to see the skill level you're up against, and their 'level' simply isn't a measurement at all.
It's not even very logical. The steam stats will end up having a leaderboard (it has to), and that means there will be a search function. From there, high level players will simply search the player while loading to see what rank they are.
It's needlessly convoluted; it makes way more sense to simply have the rank icons back. Or they could use a StarCraft 2/League of Legends style thing with bronze/silver/gold/etc., with each tier broken down into categories (bronze 1, 2, 3, etc.).

Go whatever doctrine gives PPSHs.
Start game -> Spam Conscripts.
Built T1 -> Scout car + flamer engie -> kill MGs
Wait until ~8min -> T3. Wait until 11 min -> T34 spam.
You can now counter absolutely everything. If needed, back tech for mortar + AT gun. If REALLY needed go to T4 (rarely needed).
The PPSH conscripts should usually get equal kills with the Pgrens, but due to reinforcement cost, they'll win out. The tanks (usually Panzer IV or stug) will get killed by AT nades + T34, or just circle strafing.

Higher level in that they've been playing since alpha. Against the average player, you can basically do anything and still win. In Alpha I was about 32:2 win:loss in 1v1, closed beta was somewhere around 20:3 and in this new beta it's getting to be about the same (about 10:1 so far). The only losses I had in the alpha were all in a row, when the game thought it would be hilarious to give me 3 GR-experts/"experts" in a row. I managed to beat the first, but lost to the next two.
Right now the average player in CoH2 is about a level 8-9 in CoH1.

Somewhat strange 'bug', but it always says I'm lagging the game at the beginning, despite getting over 100fps. Also the loading times are VERY slow (I'm usually last to load), despite having it installed on a RAID-0 Array (CoH1 load times were literally 3 seconds).
So far so good, but we need more players. Yes, it's a "stress test", but the queue times are loooonnnggg for 1v1.

The best advice I ever got for playing Wehrmacht (and it probably transfers to CoH2 from what I've played) is only expand when you're comfortable with it. With the ami's and soviets you can flail around a lot and keep ground on sheer aggression. With soviets you need to advance slowly, always keep a look out on your flanks and always feel that you're in a defendable position.
Won't work at higher levels - a the T34 spam will overrun any mid-game position.
From what I've played, it seems like that as long as you keep capping, the soviets are useless. As soon as you stop, and become content with your map control, it's basically GG (unless you have a hyper-death ball).
Press the map, and set up kill zones in areas that are contested (mid bridge in Pripyat, mid of that snow map). Really all you need to 'hold' a position is an MG42 and mortar, as the suppression rate is fairly high now.

Yes, it is slower. It's so that the game doesn't look like StarCraft 2, with the stupidly high MP income. Also, if the move speed was the same, blizzards would be pointless - any units caught away from a fire would get to one much too fast to actually be effected.

I agree though, late game Russians are a bit broken atm. If they pull a fast T34 with a ton of conscripts, there's not a lot to counter them. The PanzerIV is decent, but since the Russians basically control the tech phase, it's not viable - it's a reaction not a prevention.
All they really need to do is buff the MP44 up to PGren/KCH levels, or make the T-34 cost a bit more fuel (i.e. what Basilone said). The Mp44 buff is the easiest counter though. It means that the Russians would need to invest more MP into higher-level infantry, instead of spamming cheap conscripts. This would delay the first T34, and also slow the rate of subsequent T34s. It would also make T2 actually useful; because right now it's not.
When the scoutcar's 20mm was actually a useful upgrade, it made sense to rush T2, get the shock scout car out there (It was possible at about 4-5min), and simply mop up conscript squads. Then they nerfed it to the ground. The flamer HT isn't good enough for the cost, the mortar HT is so situational its insane (and it's not the best doctrine anyway), and the PAK simply isn't effective enough vs. T34's, as it dies to conscript blobs within 2 seconds.
Currently my only solution is to be insanely over-aggressive. It works against 90% of the players, but if you run into anyone good, you just get shut down as they focus in on single squads that are capping. If they even maintain a 40% map control, the fuel income allows for them to start pumping T34s fairly early in the game (15 min? I think? Don't remember).
