1) The plot was totally incosistent and presented an abnormous amount of incongruences/paradoxes:
Monsters appear -> you start Jaeger program -> robots fight monsters -> robots successfully kill monsters (and for now it's all ok) -> then someone decides that the whole world (since all the nations are allied) cannot afford anymore to build robots because it costs too much (but, if the whole world is allied on this, how can you be out of money...I mean, the whole world is fighting for its life, it's stupid to let people who watch a film think that the world is out of money since the nations that agreed to the Jaeger program control the whole world economy xD) -> so you decide that the successful Jaeger program is not worth your money -> and you decide to...build a wall.
Now seriously, you build a wall?! And what do you do with a wall vs monsters that keep evolve and are way way bigger?! Also, even if you would have been able to stop them and take them out..then what?! What would have you done, giving half of the earth to these aliens?! They could have simply circumnavigated the wall since, as they said in the film, it covered just one side xD I thought del Toro was trolling me, it was just nonsense to build a wall -> infact in 1 hour a kaiju (one of the monsters) makes a breach in the wall...I don't even think I have to comment this, you spend bazillions of dollars to build a wall because you found building robots too expensive and you don't even make calculations on how strong the wall is supposed to be, how tall is supposed to be (the monster was also as tall as the wall)?! But in general, the whole idea that the solution to the problem could have been building a wall was really making me think "this film is a trash film with millions $ involved"
2) Speeches: now, and I'm sure that everyone who watched Pacific Rim noticed it, EVERY SINGLE TIME the Marshall opened his mouth he spoke like Aragorn in his final speech leading the last men forces against Sauron in the last Lord of the Rings, like Russell Crowe in the Gladiator when he was in the Colosseum, like any epic final speech at the end of a film...except that 99% of the scenes in Pacific Rim were not epic, turning it into a joke. In the last speech, before they jump on the last Jaegers, you don't even get feel the excitement for the situation because you have simply heard it in the previous 2 hours xD
3) Weird moments:
- When the Jaeger of the protagonist is fighting against the monster in the city, 20minutes before the end of the film, at some point they get inside a building and touch a Newton's cradle machine...
- When the newborn kaiju seems to be dead, then revives just to kill Ron Perlman (Hannibal Chau in the film), then dies again...
- Right before that moment, when Charlie Day (Newton Geizler) survives to the Kaiju, he goes to Ron Perlman house asking "LIKE A BOSS" to give him the brain of a Kaiju, as if he did something for which he deserved to get that...
- A lot more of them I actually forgot
At the end of the day Pacific Rim is a film worth 1.5/2 out of 5 stars in my opinion, if you are really a lover of the genre/del Toro you may like it (even if I swear there are too many moments when you think you are getting trolled and you paid a lot for it xD), but at the end of the day I wouldn't recommend it to anyone since it's clearly a trash film for families and for brainless masses. I had way higher expectations and got disappointed xD Symbi watch this film and let me know
