I'd rather concerns were voiced earlier on and dismissed with 'its only in ALPHA!' than not speak up and be sold a worse game because of it.. each to their own I guess. Personally I think the collapse of the original NDA agreement with THQ is a good thing. Consumers should be able to provide constructive feedback (even before BETA stage) on a game they hope to play one day. I understand that this Site has close ties with Relic and honours this, I am trying to respect this myself by not going into specifics about what I experienced and only tried to provide opinion-based constructive criticisms. Perhaps I over stepped the mark when I said the ALPHA was terrible. That was my mistake and I exaggerated - I have edited my previous post. If anyone thought I revealed too much with the rest of my post then I apologise and will purge previous posts of information on request. Until that time I am only trying to improve the game to it's optimum level, I don't wanna see a shit game. In: Lobby
Thread: CoH2 Beta 26 Mar 2013, 15:12 PM The speed wasn't there. neither was the unit movement dynamic from the original. Now, I'm not asking for the same game again, in fact I am an advocate of progress and change. But a lot of stuff was changed for no reason at all. The UI was horrendous and the units moved like shopping trolleys. And tbh I felt little connection to the units that I had on the field (something I immediately enjoyed about the original). I hope to those extra 3 months DO make a difference. In: Lobby

Thread: The Great War 1918 - The Offensive begins24 Mar 2013, 01:05 AM Jump back to quoted post22 Mar 2013, 15:06 PMCireva While the mod’s main goal is to represent the First World War, we decided from the start to specifically portray the Western Front only and the period going from 21 March 1918 to the armistice, or more precisely the Spring Offensive, the second battle of the Marne and the Hundred Days offensive. This allows us to integrate as many different weapons and vehicles as possible, while keeping a consistent timeline in regards to uniforms and tactics. It also makes fighting on stock maps more believable as in 1918 there were plenty of engagements far away from trench systems, from the flat fields around Amiens to the streets of Cambrai and the deep woods of the Argonne forest. It also makes the specific gameplay of Company of Heroes easier to adapt as by 1918 advanced small squad tactics had already been well developed and refined by all belligerents. I love the design thought process that's gone on here to utilise the engine by representing specific tactics and time periods. I've got to admit, I'm certainly not boffin level on either of the WW's histories. But I will definitely plays this mod to give me an idea of this time period and its event then will go on to further read about it. because of that I have to say, looks like some good work here! (I'm downloading now) I will get into playing it tonight and let you know tomorrow how I find it although I'm expecting good things. Excellent work. In: Modding and Tools
