sorry to pop ur bubble but the zis gun does 160dmg like every other at gun. the lack of penetration is made up for by its 6 man squad to improve its durability.

The ZiS has the lowest rate of fire, that's why it is the worst at AT duty. It's not a bad AT gun either, but what it lacks in the AT department when compared to e.g. the PaK40, it needs to make up for in versatility, like most of the SOV units.

I think the SU-85 is fine. Firefly is a bit iffy with it being gimmicky but i think its pretty solid. The Jackson is quite strong at its current position but only because its the only thing keeping USF alive late game. I think nerfing that if u want to nerf the Jackson . USF AT gun needs to be buffed as it requires a muni dumb to reliably pen anything stronger than Ostwind and the USF sherman just isnt worth getting compared to a jackson or scott . Maybe nerf the jackson pen/remove HVAP/ decrease speed and buff USF sherman AT rounds and or buff M1 At gun?

The Jackson is a unit that performs better than its cost, but mostly because it has to. The USF AT gun is great against LV, but even against OST P4 it starts to become unreliable, especially because the snare often takes a while to cast. You can invest munitions to make it good against it, but that will bleed you quite heavily on your mun. Bazookas are good, but mostly when enmassed. They also suffer a bit from unreliable penetration against mediums (72% long range against OST P4).

USF will probably become unviable if Jackson gets a significant AT nerf without buffing something else.

I just saw that on CoH2DB, the maximum AoE distance is 6, while far AoE distance point is 5.
So everyone KEEP IN MIND that the graph carries a systemic error.

I think the vet damage buff should be just a modifier as you suggested., which gives the barrage 93,36 base damage.

Correction values for areas:
Should be +10 for Prepatch ZiS and SU76 and +12 for Su76vet. Don't know much about the Prepatch ZiS. If the maximum AoE was 6 as well, then add ~17.


So the vet on Su76 gives it a kill radius of almost 0,7 m which is pretty decent and a AI damage boost of about 14,5%.

These are the actual damage profiles of ZiS prepatch (Zis1, blue; I was lazy so sorry); ZiS postpatch (Zis2, orange) and the Brummbär. The only thing that is not accounted for by my calculation model is if the max AoE differs from the far AoE distance point. In that case, everything that goes beyond the far distance point is neglected and 0, but units like that are quite rare from what I remember.

Note: "functional area" is the area of the plot that is also below the 80 HP mark which basically corrects for artifacts when calculating AI capability. Graph areas are arithmetic estimates and no perfect integrals.



Conclusion:
Prepatch ZiS and Postpatch ZiS had the same overall AI damage, but prepatch there was a high model wipe capability (even better than today's Brummbär). Now ZiS can't wipe a full health model anymore, while overall AI damage stays the same. I can't tell anymore how reliable the prepatch ZiS was at hitting targets, but if the scatter was not touched I'd say it's an overall nerf (just like every artillery unit and even abilities got changed towards more reliable, less bursty damage).

If anyone provides me the SU76 data I can insert them into the graph (although 4 units is the max to compare).

1 Panther + T4 Cost = 235

The more likely scenario is that you skip T3 and go for T4 instantly, which would bring the cost of your Panther down to 210 Fuel, and even then you completely neglect MP.
But I agree, assuming you already went for T3 as OST, there will be a big gap until you have a T4 unit which is risky to do.
