I feel that pgren shrecks should be locked behind T2, with a pgren rush strategy, you barely have to use munitions, which makes getting those normally hard to afford shrecks much easier.
Otherwise having them start with 2 STG44 and 2K98 or maybe 2 MP40 and giving them a 60 munitions upgrade that gives them 2 more STG44 could work, then their MP cost should probably be reduced to ~320. G43 upgrade will have to be looked at as well.
Personally, I would prefer the first option, and I do think that having an ability to skip t1 and t2 is a bit much. |
I still think that the idea to make T3 skippable(T4 is more expensive unless T3 is built, but doesn't requite it) sounds great. I think it would make soviets more interesting, so you don't have to get t70 every game.

I say just copy what CoH1 did. Give the squad leader a rifle with the model of a smg. Adding another man onto the squad is enough already, giving said man a better weapon than the rest of the squad is just too much imao.
The reason the VSL gets a better weapon is to make the upgrade more attractive, compared to g43 and mg42. Just a fifth man is too underwhelming for grenadiers, even with the slight RA and CD buff. |
Not too sure about giving ostruppen random weapons, since the BAR is quite different, compared to the Bren and DP28, but I think that the idea of giving ostruppen captured weapons is great. PzB could be the mutually exclusive AT option, though I'm not sure if it should be 1 or 2 rifles. |
Problem: T-34/76 is not present in very many games.
Reason: Soviets have better options for the role that come at lower cost, causing little incentive to tech up.
Solution 2: Change Soviet tech requirements to you can build T3 or T4 once T1 or T2 is built, but increase the price of the T4 building. This also makes rushing for a T-34/76 more viable without changing the actual stats or cost of any unit, just the tech order and cost of tech. (I prefer this solution.)
Personally, I think that this is a good idea, makes soviet tech tree more unique. Though maybe having T3 built should decrease T4 cost to what we have now, so players still have the option to do the same thing. |
Personally, I would like the VSL to have a ppsh with a more generous mid range dps curve but underwhelming firepower, compared to shock or conscript ppsh at close range, this would make the squad more versatile, but won't be as good as mg42 or g43 in their respective roles.
If the ppsh proves to be way worse than the g43, slightly higher bonuses to the squad may work.
The MP40 would also work, may even be better, due to the fact that my suggested profile fits the MP40 better.
I don't think that the STG44 would be a good choice. It would probably be too good if it has a similar profile to volk STG and the squad would become too similar to volks(5 man K98s and STG44s). I think that these squads should feel different.
Though, I don't think this change is necessary, and the balance team should probably focus on other stuff. |
Agreed
MP40 is terrible, horrible even. Stormtroopers are crap currently since you have to melee range in order to put into effect. If you compare ShockTroops, medium range they are quite deadly. Mp40 has a very poor profile. Unless they decide on making improvements then I would be fine with it.
Volks should stick currently with STG upgrade as there is no other clear resolution.
10 range is not melee, and the storm's dps within 10 range is very high, they are not supposted to be used to walk up to your enemy, if you use them right, they are very good, don't compare them to shocktroops, which cost more without infiltration, 6 man squad, and they are not all that great at medium range, pgrens are quite a bit better off past 10 range. They are ok at mid range because they have a different role. In exchange storms get amazing camo and infiltration, while still having comparable dps.
Volk mp40s are pretty bad though, since they don't really have the tools to get close, and even then the dps isn't amazing. |
I like the old Stormtrooper version way better. Currently I dislike the way they are. They are bad. Rely heavily on surprise attacks.
Give them the STG option back. MP40 is pretty crap profile. You have to keep very close range like melee range with this weapon. Unlike shock troops and commandos, medium range works for them relatively well.
Can you please tell me what made old storms more interesting that the new ones. How were they different from pgrens with camo, apart from Tactical Advance, after they have infiltrated and got their stgs?
10 range is not melee range, and I don't see how the fact that they rely on surprise attacks makes them really bad. And it's not like they have 0 survivability and will lose to any squad if they don't pop out of camo in their face. Their mp40 profile is better than what commandos have, have you not seen their capacity to wipe squads on retreat from inside a 250?
There are no other squads like the new storms in wehrmacht, I fail to see why you can't use pgrens with camo in place of the old storms.
I don't mean to offend you, but I just really like the new storms and I think that they actually feel special, while being quite useful, I never used the old storms apart from testing them once or twice, they never felt interesting or unique in almost any way to me. |
These changes are still being tested, don't know when exactly they will be implemented, and I doubt there is a concrete date, they will implement the changes when the balancing, all needed changes to UI and some code changes are finished. |
This is exactly what I have problems with. What is the difference between elite zooks and non elite zooks?
Elite zooks are only available to paratroopers(and rangers after patch), they deal more damage and have more penetration, not sure if its the same as shrecks, but I imagine its close. |
