Thread: Unfair USF grenade cost 1 Nov 2018, 22:26 PM Can we also not forget that USF grenades are thrown at mostly 4 men squads with a very good chance to wipe all models? Riflemen are already the best main line infantry, they definitely do not need cheaper mini nukes. A bundled grenade is in most cases only just as effective because it has to kill more models for the same result. So their cost / effect is practically the same. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: USF Teching Costs1 Nov 2018, 13:59 PM While we're on the subject of modding USF and their tech, I would propose making Riflemen about 10-20MP cheaper per squad so USF can have a faster start (especially against OKW) and then putting those saved MP (60, based on a standard 3x RM build) into the weapon racks tech. This would buff USF early game a bit while mid game cost/timing remains mostly the same. In: COH2 Gameplay

That way you still get the full recon functionality I don't really like the idea of a plane loiter, it's generic and doesn't fit the doctrine theme. Also in team games recon planes generally become completely useless because there will always be some good AA around and the planes get shot down instantly. It should remain a unique recon ability IMO. Which is why I proposed the solution of extending all units' view range by 2x (or whatever number) in an area for xx seconds in conjunction with flares being dropped for visual clue, which in essence has the same effect of using the current flare to 'scout ahead' for your units. This however removes the uncounterable and unbalanced synergy of flares being able to be dropped anywhere in team games, and one would have to be willing to risk diving a vehicle deep into enemy territory to scout artillery pieces or FRPs (but it would still be possible - although counterable now). What unit/strategy/ability would you use to counter it? Generally, everything has a counter of some sort. This ability lacks that. Hence the issue. The only issue is that it can be dropped anywhere. The Soviet mortar or sniper flare is equally uncounterable and all one can do is move units around to negate the effects of the spotting a bit, although these are more balanced because they have limited range. The only thing I would change is to make the specops flares only dropable in frontline enemy territory somehow. Basically the flare could only extend field of view that your units already established. A bit like the British flare ability works, only not map-wide. Maybe turn it into an ability that boosts units view range by 2x for 30 seconds or something as this achieves the same effects as lighting up the front line. The flares would drop as a clue to the enemy. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: USF Teching Costs31 Oct 2018, 14:14 PM I agree with Lago, a total faction redesign seems very unlikely with the current dev resources while some small changes to tech prices as the ones suggested would definitely be worth testing as a solution that is 'as good as it's gonna get'. Thread: M2 HMG .50 Cal31 Oct 2018, 11:06 AM I meant per bullet yes, as the stats suggest. This gives the .50 pretty much identical suppression performance to the MG 42 so once more I wouldn't call suppression on it a problem. In fact, if the formula is still the same, the M2 suppresses faster at all ranges. 0.74 seconds at mid range versus 1.04 seconds for the MG 42 for example (Maxim needs 2.6 seconds for perspective). When I see that if your HMG isn't vet3 it lose vs a single squad of Obers vet2 because it is unable to suppress it in time there a problem somewhere. The .50 cal has 4-5 times more suppression than the MG 42. I wouldn't call suppression a problem for the M2. In: COH2 Gameplay
